Writing Climate Change Back into History
Solutions to combat the threat of climate change are being undermined. Every day, climate deniers spread half truths and minimize the knowledgeable dedication of climate conservationists who are acting responsibly in responding to the sense of failure that we are experiencing as we witness climate changes. I've been working with Our Green Challenge for several years providing useful tips to concerned people who want to reduce their carbon footprint, save money and feel they are part of the solution.
With this project, we decided that it was time to write climate change back into history. Fundamentally, we’re concerned that students and the public are
getting the wrong media message. Essentially, students who pursue
ecology, environmental sciences, conservation, wildlife management or climatology
shouldn't be concerned that their compassion for the environment and actions to
conserve our natural resources be deemed cause for being maligned. Efforts toward the restoration of our climate are extremely relevant.
Our team will gather up to 1,000 biographies of conservationists from various sectors of society around the world. Teachers, community leaders, businesses,
scientists, writers, architects, inventors, government employees, builders,
kids and consumers are making critical contributions to history and shouldn't fall through the cracks.
Narratives will provide you an up close and personal understanding of what drives and motivates dedicated conservationists. You'll get the personal impressions, articles, photos and videos of inspiring people who nurture their communities. Together, we can revitalize the spirit of caring about the known human effects on our climate.
We will upload narratives to Wikipedia initially. We will also provide a handbook on how to help local climate role models get heard. More personalized accounts and local efforts will appear in a series of dispatches on a WordPress website and in an e-book as part of our “Writing Climate Change Back into History” project. Eventually, we will print a regional and global photographic and story essay.
This campaign will cover the first phase of this project: the collection of the narratives and the online effort of documenting contributions. Throughout this phase, every donor will have the opportunity to be an integral part of recognizing these positive achievements as we set out to make them available to online communities.
Together, we can challenge apathy. To invest in this project is to invest in writing climate change back into history and recording local restorative actions. You can feel good that you are part of our effort to help chronicle an accurate history that gives proper mention to those who value solutions, accountability and an environmentally-friendly community. Not just media hype. We will pay tribute to these unsung activists who are bringing attention to environmental concerns.
What We Need & What You Get
We will be teaming up local groups that gather narratives,
photos and videos and enter them into Wikipedia and onto our Climate History WordPress
website. Eventually, we plan to collate the chronicles in an eBook or a
quarterly publication. Essentially, at the end of the project we will help spur
locally organized “Writing Climate Change Back into History” celebrations. We
are rebuilding our communities!
We want to raise $ 875 to cover online production costs and outreach since we
are trying to do this without advertisements. The funds will be used to cover
production costs for documenting these biographies.
These narratives will then be available for students, general public, anyone really who is interested to raise awareness of carbon
footprint reduction efforts and generate discussion, support and encouragement.
We will provide you some great rewards depending on your
donation amount. Every donor will have the opportunity to keep up to date and be
an integral part of recognizing these positive achievements.
Why are we doing
this?
In response to scientific studies and informed global
concerns, many conservationists are taking steps to help reduce their carbon footprint.
For the most part, we want to provide a stimulating overlooked perspective to the one that essentially dominates most media that indicates
only pro-business and anti-business groups are involved in a debate about climate. At times, the media portrayal casts
a shadow on the side of informed citizens trying to raise appropriate awareness
on their concerns. They ignore efforts by responsible citizens who are trying to
bridge sustainable business practices with social and environmental impact
considerations. We want to share unbiased narratives about people who overcome
the barriers that conservationists regularly face minus the distortion.
If we don't reach our goal, we will use the funds to move the project forward as far as we can go. See the awesome contributor perks we've listed below!!!!
The Impact
Is the question of our time when it comes to climate change
really about environmentalism OR human well-being? No, we don't think so. This project will be
part of an ongoing attempt to work toward rejecting this false dichotomy and bridge a dialogue between those who are genuinely interested in conservation efforts and those who want to better understand their perspectives without having to subscribe to a cause. Our efforts will make available more accurate and real perspectives on conservation efforts to interested readers. You'll help shed some light on leading community members who are living examples. Our Green Challenge has successfully provided carbon footprint reduction tips to thousands of people in the Santa Rosa area and online through outreach efforts. We're reaching out to other groups who are also trying to empower people with ways we can help better serve our environment. You'll be an integral part of our growing effort!
