UPDATE 11/04 THANK YOU! INITIAL GOAL HIT & STRETCH GOAL!

WOOHOO!! 100%!!! Thanks to an ANONYMOUS contributor for pushing us over the edge! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND GENEROSITY AND KINDNESS. We appreciate it, and now it's time to edit a brilliant film. Whilst we have reached 100%, it's not over yet. There's still 2 and a half days left on our campaign, and we'd love to reach above $5500 so that we can achieve more/pay more/do more/make more, you know it! We still have a bunch of great perks to be had, from Neal Brothers Foods goody bags and cookbooks to The Stowe bespoke handmade leather iphone6 and 6s cases, not to mention an original comic by Lily Ash Sakula, llama pins (that look a lot like our llama!) by Isabel Greenberg, an audiobook of selected stories from Dave Eggers's 'How We Are Hungry' as well as chances to become an associate producer, attend the wrap party, the cast and crew screening and watch the final finished film! Thanks again, we couldn't have done it or continue to do it without you! Here are some photographs from the weekend's shoot to celebrate...

UPDATE 10/30 PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY WRAPPED + NEW PERK

We did it!

It was an intense, but enthusiastic shoot in Niagara-on-the-Lake, and though the weather was not always on our side, we were able to capture nearly everything we had hoped to by the time we had to go home.

Plus, Don and the llama definitely seemed to have bonded.

However, the journey in making this film is far from over and neither is our campaign. We still have the wonderful world of post-production ahead of us, and are still 30% from achieving our goal. It is important we reach our goal, as failing to do so will significantly stall our efforts to edit, mix and colour correct the great footage we captured last weekend.

So please continue to share and spread the word about our campaign, and of course contribute as well. To celebrate the completion of principal photography we have released a new limited perk where contributors can receive a signed copy of Dave Eggers' critically acclaimed THE CIRCLE! Look for it in the right-hand column--->

UPDATE 10/22 NEW PERK & NEW PERK PRICES!

Halfway through our campaign and just days away from principal photography, we have both dropped a new perk and our perk prices! Look to the right-hand column to see the new pledge levels. If you had already pledged, and see that your contribution now meets a previously higher perk level, you will now receive the contents of that pledge, and  concordantly if you pledged for something that is now at a lower perk level, we'll be sure to include some extra goodies to thank you for making an early pledge!

As for the new perk: this one is a doozy! For $30 you will receive a digital download of Don McKellar and Julia Sarah Stone, among other performers, reciting select Dave Eggers stories AND an exclusive comic-book adaptation of YOUR MOTHER AND I!

Here's an excerpt of the comic!

Thanks again for your generous support!

UPDATE 10/20 NEW PERK! LIMITED HANDCRAFTED iPHONE CASES FROM THE STOWE

The generous (and fashionable) folks at THE STOWE are letting us give away 4 beautiful iPhone 6/6s cases for pledges of $75! These cases are handcrafted in Canada and typically run a retail value of $120! With these cases, you'll also receive the finished film, a llama pin, and an invitation to our cast/crew screening! There are only four cases available, so act fast!

UPDATE 10/19 THANK YOU! WE MADE IT TO 50%! PLUS CHECK OUT THE ART FOR OUR LLAMA PIN!

Also here's the wonderful llama by Isabelle Greenberg that will adorn the pin you'll get as part of the $50 perk.

UPDATE 10/15 YSHIA WALLACE'S TRIPTYCH OF CONCEPT ART IS NOW AVAILABLE AS NEW PERK!

The second concept art commission is a gorgeous triptych of 8" x 6" gouache paintings on 16' x 12' arches paper by Yshia Wallace. Right-click the images to embiggen.

UPDATE 10/14 NEAL BROTHERS FOODS PARTNERS WITH YOUR MOTHER & I!

We hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving Canada! We certainly know who we are thankful for! Along with our generous contributors, we are extremely thankful to organic specialty food distributor Neal Brothers Foods for donating both their products and their recent publication "GOODNESS: RECIPES & STORIES" to our campaign, so we can offer brand new, wonderful perks to our contributors!

For contributions of $50, Toronto-based contributors can receive the NEAL BROTHERS & I perk, which features a basket of assorted Neal Brothers products in a branded tote bag, along with the YOUR MOTHER & I AND MORE perk package.

OR for a contribution of $35, you can select a limited perk that includes an autographed copy of The Neal Brothers' "GOODNESS: RECIPES & STORIES". Shipping rates apply to contributors outside of Canada.

Both perks are in limited supply, so act fast!

UPDATE 10/11: THANK YOU FOR HELPING US REACH 30% OF OUR GOAL!

YOUR MOTHER AND I is an adaptation of the Dave Eggers story of the same name from his 2004 short story collection HOW WE ARE HUNGRY. We have received the author's blessing to adapt the story, have secured a terrific cast and crew, but we need your generous support and participation to help realize this short film!

Johnna's dad is a hero - he's fixed the hole in the O-Zone layer, put an end to genocide, cured Parkinson’s, and painted Kansas purple for good measure. But back at home, in the kitchen making nachos, he's still just ‘dad’, and Johnna’s heard it all before. In the time it takes for them to make a plate of nachos, YOUR MOTHER AND I explores the complex relationship between an adolescent girl and her father, as well as exploring the ridiculously simple ways (as well as some that are just downright ridiculous) in which we could change the world.

"Dave Eggers’ short story is one that has echoed in my head for a long time. There is something captivating in the world that Eggers’ evokes – one not so far away from our own in the way it looks and feels, the food we eat, the relationships we have – but a million miles away from it in the changes that have apparently been effected. It’s a fun and funny way of looking at the way we live and the opportunities, however outlandish there are for change. It’s a story that gently questions our values and offers playful alternatives, whilst presenting a very familiar environment."

We are very much looking forward to bringing this world to life, however we need your help. Raising $5000 will allow us shoot for three days rather than two. It will allow us to pay our cast and crew a small amount for their time, energy and dedication, and it will ultimately help us create the world that I imagine for these people to come to life in without compromise. It will also help accelerate our post-production cycle so we can complete the short film and get it to you faster!

We are very lucky to have a fantastic team of cast and crew involved: Don McKellar (LAST NIGHT, SENSITIVE SKIN) and Julia Sarah Stone (THE KILLING, WETBUM) playing father and daughter, Ian McMillan as Director of Photography, Ben Fox composing the music and Maureen Grant editing. We would love for you to join the project as well through your generous support!

Your contributions will be rewarded with an array of exciting perks and opportunities to participate that are listed in the right-hand column: ----->

For $20 donations we'll sing your praises across our Social Media platforms, and are get you a digital copy of the finished film!

For $30 you will receive a digital download of Don McKellar and Julia Sarah Stone, among other performers, reciting select Dave Eggers stories AND an exclusive comic-book adaptation of YOUR MOTHER AND I by Lily Ash Shakula!

If you act fast, $35 scores you a limited  book, but otherwise will get you a ticket to a Toronto screening of the film, links to all of Anna Maguire's films, plus a rad art pin by Isabelle Greenberg.

For contributions of $50, Toronto-based contributors can receive the NEAL BROTHERS & I perk, which features a basket of assorted Neal Brothers products in a branded tote bag. The perk also includes the contents of the YOUR MOTHER & I AND MORE perk level!

If you pledge $75 you can chow down on nachos and party with us at our wrap party, plus receive some nifty signed production stills along with the previous perks! $150 gets you all that, as well as a signed copy of Dave Eggers short-story collection HOW WE ARE HUNGRY. These perks are limited in supply!

For those seeking something to hang on their wall: each week of the campaign we'll be offering a different piece of original concept art that evokes the brave new world of Eggers' short story for $250. This pledge will also include all the perks in the $100 one.

SOLD OUT! The first concept art commission we are selling is by Isabelle Greenberg

SOLD OUT! The second concept art commission is a gorgeous triptych of 8" x 6" gouache paintings on 16' x 12' arches paper by Yshia Wallace and is now available!

Finally, for those able to make major financial contributions, we're offering four Associate Producer credits for $500. This pledge also grants you the perks included with the $150 pledge!

And if you don't wish to receive a perk, but still want to contribute that's perfectly fine too! Though, if you ever change your mind, just let us know by writing to us at: yourmotherandfilm@gmail.com.

When will YOUR MOTHER AND I be made?

We're on track to start shooting this fall!

When will YOUR MOTHER AND I be released?

We intend to complete the film before the end of the year, and begin playing the festival circuit in the first few months of 2016. The moment it premieres at a festival, those who pledged above $25 will receive a digital download of the film.

If the project doesn't reach it's funding goal, will YOUR MOTHER AND I still get made?

Failing to reach our goal won't prevent us from making the film, but it could delay our shooting schedule until we're able to afford all the rental costs. Regardless of reaching the goal, we are nonetheless committed to putting whatever funds we do raise towards covering our production and post-production costs and getting you your rewards as quickly as possible.

If the project doesn't reach it's funding goal, do I get my money back?

I'm afraid not. As we're doing a Flexible Campaign, even if we fall short of our goal, we will still put whatever we raise towards our production budget and you will get your perks.

Can I increase my pledge once it's been made?

YES, PLEASE! Once you donate to the campaign, you may want to change your incentive perk to a different one, or increase your pledge amount to upgrade. Be our guest, but jut send us a quick note letting us know what you’d like to do, and we’ll sort it out on our end.

Can I 'gift' a perk to someone else?

That’s very nice of you and of course you can. If you’d like to donate to the film, but with to give the perk to someone as a gift, just go through the normal process of making a donation in your name (for billing purposes) and then send us a quick e-mail to yourmotherandfilm@gmail.com letting us know what you’d like to do, and we’ll take care of it on our end. Please reply with the information of the person who you want to receive the perk, and we’ll make sure it gets to them.

I'd like to contribute, but I don't really want any of the perks. Do I have to choose a perk to contribute?

If you don't wish to receive a perk, simply type in a donation and click contribute now and don't select a perk! Thank you so much! We will be releasing some new perks throughout the campaign, and if you ever change your mind, don't hesitate to write to us at yourmotherandfilm@gmail.com and let us know.

How do I send you my "children's" art?

Merely scan a colour copy and e-mail it to us at yourmotherandfilm@gmail.com and we'll reproduce it ourselves to be included as set-dressing.

When will the perks be delivered?

Each perk has it's rough delivery month listed and we'll do our utmost to get them to you right away. We'll very likely get most of the physical perks out to you before Christmas!

What happens if you exceed your goal?

The goal we've set is actually only meant to cover costs before post-production. If we exceed our goal, it will afford us the opportunity to start post-production on the film immediately.

I put the wrong e-mail address on Indiegogo and I'm afraid I won't receive my perk. How do I fix that?

Have no fear! Please send an email to yourmotherandfilm@gmail.com and we will update your new e-mail address manually to our database.

How do I update my shipping address?

Send your new address to yourmotherandfilm@gmail.com and we will update our files accordingly.

How will the funders be kept informed during and after the campaign?

We will be frequently updating our Indiegogo page, as well as our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
