What We Need & Who We Are
The YWCA is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women of all ages. The YWCA deals mainly with victims of domestic violence. With your contributions you can help make a difference in the lives of women who are on the road to recovery and need help finding safety.
The purpose of this campaign is to help the YWCA fundraise for their 2016 Keys of Hope Luncheon. The luncheon will raise money for their Keys of Hope program, which provides housing for women in need, giving them time to become independent and overcome the current obstacles in their lives. The luncheon will take place on April 28th at 11:30 and will give the YWCA a chance for guests to take a deeper look into their programming, specifically their housing program. There will be some videos shown as well as a presentation given by a resident, sharing her personal story. An anonymous donor has agreed to match up to $100,000 dollars raised by the luncheon. We will work diligently to help raise the funds needed for the YWCA to keep their programs going and to help women in need. All the proceeds go towards helping the victims of domestic violence whether they are in need of shelter, counseling, or even just food. We would like to give back to the Knoxville community that does so much for us.
The Impact
Since 1899, the YWCA has been helping women in Knoxville that are survivors of abuse and rape, to become independent women by offering counseling and support. On their website, they say that they are “committed to improving the lives of women and girls and to enhancing this great community.” With the help of your donation, it will improve this wonderful organization and get the support that will help many of the women in the community that are trying to get through those awful experiences.
