Ziggy and Charlie Brown, two shelter dogs, needed operations, one to save his sight, one to save his life.
Ziggy, a beautiful, loving chocolate brown Sharpei mix, came in as a stray to the Rutherford County, NC, kill shelter with entropion in both eyes. Entropion is extremely painful. If left untreated, entropion can lead to corneal scarring, erosion, ulceration, rupture and eventually blindness.Ziggy is at least assured that he will have his sight for the rest of his life.
Charlie Brown, a white American Bull Dog mix, while on the drive to the spay/neuter clinic Charlie started sneezing blood all over, a lot of blood. The clinic couldn't deal with the flood of blood and Patti had to rush him to Landrum vets. He was anaesthetized to stop him sneezing and slow down and then stop the bleeding. He could have bled to death.
Neither of these two dogs has anybody else to help with their bills so the volunteer, Patti, and now donors to this campaign, are their rescue heroes.
Why help?
The rescue effort over to save dogs and cats at this shelter has been huge and succeeded in going from killing up to 90% of the animals that come in to last year, 2012, killing only 29% of dogs. Your donation helps keep up the momentum of saving lives, Without financial help for the costs, the cats and dogs die after maximum mandated 2 weeks time at the shelter. Very few are adopted locally.
