The Zombie Research Society
The Zombie Research Society was created in 2007 by our founder, author, and zombie expert Matt Mogk. He dedicated our organization to the science, survival, and culture of the living dead. Our official Advisory Board, which consists of authors, academics, and scholars quickly became the ultimate authority on the undead for a number of official organizations and state governments including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
- The Zombie Research Society is on the bleeding-edge of zombie research.
- Our members provide support for our research, articles, and scientific conferences.
- Without the support of our members we are unable to continue our vital research.
We created Zombie Awareness Month; currently recognized by a number of local and state governments, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We are dedicated to the promotion of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) for children, students, and researchers by emphasizing the fun and imagination inherit in studying the living dead. We also encourage the application of epidemiology, statistical analysis, and neuroscience in order to share the benefits of our zombie research with the scientific world.

Join the Zombie Research Society!
Our research is only considered "fun" and "theoretical" until it's too late! So, we need your support to continue. We need your support to encourage the next generation of students, researchers, and scientists. We need your support to fund our website, our Advisory Board, our publications, our social media, and perhaps most importantly... our research:
- The Zombie Research Society is a volunteer organization.
- We rely entirely on our members for funding, for outreach, and for web hosting fees.
- By joining the Zombie Research Society, you will help us pay our bills. We will be able to continue hosting the official website, additional research, and our social media accounts.
- By joining the Zombie Research Society, you can help us attend scientific conferences, conventions & encourage students to dedicate their studies to STEM and the living dead.
Due to COVID-19 we're missing out on all of the live events, conventions, and conferences that help us keep going financially. So, if you join the Zombie Research Society during this official Membership Drive, you'll be one of the select few that we accept into our ranks sight-unseen. It's a rare privilege, and we're happy to offer this opportunity to our fans across the world!

We are Deadly Serious. How about You?
We do not believe that zombies exist... at least not yet. However, our studies and research are mostly theoretical. Many of our official Advisory Board members have used the living dead to expand the current study & scientific knowledge of epidemiology, statistical analysis, and neuroscience. And they apply these scenarios to engage and encourage their students:
- Students love the living dead. Zombies are exciting and promote learning.
- We have authored a number of books from analytical tomes like "Do Zombies Dream of Undead Sheep" to children's books including the "Zombie Zone" series from Bearport Publishing or "Nerd A to Z" from National Geographic Children's Books.
- Our members support this outreach with their donations. Perhaps we've even inspired your own child to study science, technology, engineering, or mathematics!
Yes, we are serious; but we also have a lot of fun! During our appearances on AMC's "Talking Dead" with Chris Hardwick, we interacted with thousands of fans who had no idea that our research was real, legitimate, and innovative. Our official Advisory Board quickly changed their minds, and our publications are now cited and referenced in textbooks around the world.

We Can't Grow Without Your Support
The Zombie Research Society is a volunteer organization. None of our authors, contributors, researchers, or Advisory Board members are paid - period. By joining our organization you are supporting our operating costs, and that's it. There is no profit here. We simply need your support to pay for web hosting, research, conference attendance, and travel. The Zombie Research Society was never intended to be strictly an online resource. We want to send our representatives to schools, colleges, and conferences to encourage this field of research:
- Sale of merchandise barely allows us to operate our website.
- Many of the giveaways and contests that you've seen are completely out-of-pocket; paid for by us personally, simply because we believe in this organization.
- With your help, and by joining the Zombie Research Society, we hope to fund the mission of our organization for the next fiscal year.
Let us repeat that the Zombie Research Society is a volunteer organization. If you've enjoyed our research, please consider joining our organization. Our authors, researchers, and Advisory Board Members are students, scientists, and fans - just like you! And we simply couldn't keep going without your support. Your contribution may help us grow in ways you'd never imagine!
