Three months ago, I got my first 3D printer. I loved it, but It was difficult to find affordable filament in Canada. I even tried partnering with an American, but shipping was still too much, so I set off to start making my own filament, right here in Canada.
After working with and talking to countless people, I have found a company that will sell me plastic pellets cheaply, in bulk.
Nothing is special about the way I make filament - Just a Filastruder, a cheap device that extrudes filament from plastic pellets. The funding money is so I can bulk order plastic pellets from the other side of the country.
At the moment, I will only be selling natural-colored 1.75mm ABS. Changing colors in a Filastruder results in a lot of wasted filament. And each material and diameter has to have its own, dedicated Filastruder. With only $1000 funding, it isn't feasible, unfortunately.
All filament will be vacuum sealed, with silica gel packets thrown in. The more you order, the less you have to pay for shipping - 1kg is $5 shipping, 4kg is $10 shipping, and 10kg is only $25 shipping. Of course, all filament shipped will be within 0.025mm. To ensure the filament doesn't get damaged near the core, it will be shipped on a large diameter spool.
Due to how cheaply we sell this filament, we won't be able to accept refunds.
Money will be budgeted in the following ways:
ABS Plastic(Minimum 150 pounds)
Filastruder
Filawinder
Small heater(To dry the plastic before it is extruded)
Vacuum sealer
Silica gel packets
Boxes
