AISMA - Book I
Who are you and what is Aisma?
My name is Edgars Cīrulis, and I am a composer and pianist from Latvia. Since the release of my debut album in 2016 my mind has been on my next goal - to let music bring the listener somewhere else, immerse them fully not only with sound, but emotion, feeling and thought.
And so I came to that the music should help tell a story, or should story help the music?
Or maybe both?
I am simultaneously writing a story and music about a girl - Aisma, who is growing up with her mother and trying to find her place in the world. Both the text and the compositions live in the same universe, deeply intertwined and symbiotic.
What we are making is a book (short story) that is accompanied with an album. Each chapter of the story is represented in the recording with its corresponding piece, recorded by an amazing international team of musicians from: Latvia, Denmark, Italy and USA.
We are working on the first part of the three part series on Aisma and her journey through dreams and reality.
Where do I come in?
This is a very ambitious project. Not only it combines three different art forms (literature, music and visual art), but also 4 nationalities. To bring all these people together in the same place is no simple task (also not a cheap one).
Then come the production costs:
- recording,
- mixing and mastering,
- art design,
- illustration,
- printing.
I have already covered parts of the project on my own, but this isn't something for one man to bear. So I'm turning to you!
I want YOU to be a part of this, I need you for the project to come to life and I want you to know that every bit counts! And I want to let you know, that even if we don't reach the goal, I'm going to make the project happen no matter what.
What do I get?
I deeply appreciate any support, be it a share, thumbs-up, donation or contribution, and in return I will give you:
- A social shout-out at every contribution level.
- Early access to the album. Backers will get the album before official release.
- Physical rewards such as: T-Shirts, posters, prints, sheet music.
- Reward as service: A personalized composition, one-on-one lesson.
- Bragging rights.
How will this work?
A load of the hard work is already done and dusted.
- The first part of the story is done and the compositions are finished.
- The studio is booked.
- The team is assembled and we're set for recording in the beginning of August.
- An incredible sound engineer has joined the project.
If we don't meet any production hiccups along the way, the final product is due in the end of 2018 or beginning of 2019.
I am going post updates along the way on every step we take to make sure that you are in touch with how the project is moving along.
Where is my money going to?
Your money is going directly into the production of the product:
- recording,
- mixing and mastering,
- cover design and illustrations,
- translation and finishing touches on the story,
- book printing,
How else can I help?
If you find this project exciting and interesting, please consider sharing and spreading the word. Your voice is instrumental in the success of this project.
