ABOUT THE PROJECT

My name is Beatrice Bulteau. I'm an artist. I've been painting for over forty years, and I am known for my works with horses. I have already published two art books since 2001, Magical Horses and Lusitano. The latter depicts the character of the Lusitano Horse with paintings, drawings and ceramics, along with the help of poetry written by Joseph Sherman and others. Such a complete and sincere account was only possible after many years of living in Portugal among the breeders and the horses themselves in their natural habitat. Through the arts we show the soul of what we depict.

This year I intend to to the same by publishing my third book, this time on the Arabian Horse.

I had the incredible luck of meeting exceptional breeders from Cairo, Egypt, the birthplace of the Egyptian Arab Horse. Dr. Nasr Marei (breeder and international judge) and Dani Barbeiri (with 40+ years of experience in arabian horse breeding) among them. They both showed me the incredible mystical side of the desert horse, so that I could portray it. It's a kind of secret that I can't keep, and after a few years among their company, want to reveal.

It is important that I publish this book myself because, just as it was with my first book, I feel like this work needs my full control. In order to make sure that it is organized in the best possible way, that the message goes across as best as possible, I have chosen to self-publish to ensure that it remains a pure work of art.

This is my second book on a specific breed. The first one helped to spread the knowledge and the origins of the Lusitano horse throughout the world, along with its beauty, character, and the cultural connection it has to its country, Portugal. My art served as the vehicle for this expression. I want to do the same for the Arabian Horse, as I think it deserves the same recognition. By helping me publish this book, you are helping me show the hidden side of the Arabian Horse.

If the goal is not reached, the funds will further support my art and cover some of the expenses of my research on the Arab Horse, along with all the other resources that I gathered to make this book. Also, you will have still had the opportunity to take advantage of the situation and acquire my works at an incredibly low price! How dare you! :)
