Hello everyone,
My name is Darek Dylo. I am the writer and director of award winning short films One Odd Dream, Love Death Farewell as well as the writer and director of the screenplay were currently pitching, Black Boots.
Black Boots is a gritty portrayal of NYC 6 friends (Alex, Cam, Kelly, Rex, Angie & Bishop) who become YouTube’s edgiest political YouTube channel as they serve as an unfiltered alternative to traditional news media. The friends are seen as digital renegades speaking truth to power earning them a powerful enemy, media juggernaut Brody Peck of Peck Studios, who will stop at nothing to sabotage the group and their momentum.
As we enter the preproduction phase, our goal is to raise $50,000 in efforts to kickstart our initial bid to help produce our feature film. This first $50,000 will help with everything from leveraging studios and production houses to join on board, applying for grants, funding our current team to begin with our recasting and lobbying.
What We Need & What You Get
Our project has 3 different budgets:
LOW budget of $300,000,
MID-TIER budget of $590,000 and our
FULL budget is $798,000.
The difference in budgets are mainly reflected by the quality of production and determines whether or not we can have notable actors / actresses on board as well as either limits or expand the our creative freedom and the overall experience such as the quality of the locations, art department, crew and cast accommodations, equipment rentals, post production, marketing etc. Since the film follows friends with a youtube channel.
Right now our team is quite small so in this particular campaign, we're asking for $50k to continue building up our operations. We are currently applying for grants, hosting auditions, location scouting etc. We are in talks with 3 different studios and production houses who are willing to join forces, so just being able to show that we can raise money helps us to leverage ourselves.
Risks & Challenges
We set out on this mission back in 2018 and like most new filmmakers without the "right connections", the backing of major studios or any major consigners, we felt stifled however with the success of our two films One Odd Dream & Love Death Farewell, we've attracted some unlikely enthusiast and garnered the support of many which gives us hope that we can do this so as long as we have the backing of our immediate community as well as continuing to do the work to develop our style and earn our keeps.

Times are hard. I get it and I won't ever suggest that anyone who's down on their luck or is not able to comfortably contribute, to do so because no matter how epic or significant I believe our film is, it's only a film. So just sharing and promoting the campaign will help to get the word out.
