Over the last month Chennai city has suffered from the worst flood in 100 years. Record breaking rainfall in the city has affected the life of millions of people. More than 350 people have lost their lives. The 1600 slums in Chennai city are suffering with over 1,800,000 displaced people. Many have taken temporary shelter in colleges, government buildings, schools etc, and are in desperate need of support from all over the world. They are in need of the basic necessities: food, clothing, medicines and other emergency articles. Life of people continues to be in difficult situation. On 2nd December, 2015 Chennai is officially declared as disaster area. But the relief operations are happening sporadically.
With your help we wish to bring immediate support to more than 10,000 families through
emergency relief packages. Your contribution will be directly spent on providing these
packages. Your generous timely support in cash would benefit many families. The non-profitable organisation, Foundation of His Sacred Majesty (FHSM), is taking up this initiative to provide post-disaster relief support. FHSM volunteers are engaged in various responsibilities of the flood relief activities. They have been preparing and distributing food for the flood victims in their respective localities as well as in the relief centres. More than 300 volunteers are actively involved in the flood relief operation at Chennai, Cuddalore and Pondicherry. However, they are facing challenges due to the shortage of relief materials.
