This film means so much to me as the topic of mental health awareness hits close to home.
Making this film from a short into a feature length film is just one of our goals. The biggest goal is to be able to tell a story that moves people and most importantly raise awareness to help reduce the stigma attached to getting help for mental illnesses.
Mental illnesses affect 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers and 13% of children each year. People struggling with their mental health may be in your family, live next door, teach your children, work in the next cubicle or sit in the same church pew.
However, only half of those affected receive treatment, often because of the stigma attached to mental health. Untreated, mental illness can contribute to higher medical expenses, poorer performance at school and work, fewer employment opportunities and increased risk of harming themselves.
We really hope to garner the attention of producers/executives to expand this story further into a feature length film that can reach out globally and touch someone who is dealing with mental health issues and/or the people around them.
