*UPDATE 11/19/13*

Our campaign has now ended, and after eight days of fundraising, we were able to raise $16,276! Your support has been incredible, please stay tuned for more updates as we continue to distribute goods in Northern Cebu. Thank you so much for your contributions, they mean so much to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.

*UPDATE 11/12/13*

We are so overwhelmed with the support you have shown over the past few hours. Even though we've hit our goal, we are going to keep going! We assure you that every single last cent we receive in excess of our goal will continue to go towards this cause. Thank you so much!

Hi Everyone!

We are Isabel, Adela, and Chiara, three Filipinos who have recently come home after studying abroad. While we were away at school, it was easy for us to feel disconnected from the Philippines especially in times of tragedy and in the wake of disaster. We wanted to find a way to minimize the divide between Filipinos abroad and kababayans back in the Philippines. connect.PH is an effort to bridge the gap, and a way for those who are abroad to directly contribute to relief efforts in the wake of disasters.

Super Typhoon Haiyan recently ravaged the Philippines. One of the strongest storms ever recorded, it destroyed many towns and cities in its wake. The ferocity of the winds even damaged buildings made of concrete. Thousands of people do not have access to clean water and electricity, and food supplies are scarce. Hospitals are full beyond capacity with medicines running low, making the spread of disease a real threat. With your help, we can provide some relief for the victims of this tragedy.

I currently live in Cebu City, close to the most devastated communities. While many individuals and organizations are sending aid across the affected areas, it is not enough. There are still many people in need of assistance.

Our goal is to raise at least $1,000 for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. All proceeds from this campaign will go to directly toward relief efforts in Northern Cebu. The money will be used to buy rice, canned goods, potable water, medicine, and clothes. The goods from this campaign will be distributed to people in Northern Cebu by the 22nd of November.

A little goes a long way, below are some examples of what your money could buy.

$1: 12 fever and pain relieving pills

$3: 1 complete Aid Kit, which includes 2 kg of rice, 3 packs of instant noodles, and 2 cans of sardines

$5: 9 bottles of drinking water

$10: 5 shirts or 7 pairs of slippers

Every cent counts, and if we do not reach our goal, we will still use the funds to buy as much as we can for the people affected by the Typhoon.

If you cannot donate, we would appreciate it if you could help us get the word out about our campaign!

I will constantly update this page to keep you informed of our progress. You may reach me at isabel.binamira@gmail.com if you have any further questions.

Maraming at daghan salamat!

Isabel, Adela, and Chiara
