Dracula Village is an ideal vacation spot in Bran, Transylvania, which allows you to step back in time to the days of Bram Stoker and soak up some true vampire spirit. The Village offers an awe-inspiring view of the famous Bran Castle. The houses we want to build are thematic, designed to the finest detail by our architect Gabriel Henegar in the old Bran style. Our greatest backer and friend is Dacre Stoker, great grand-nephew of Bram Stoker and author of Dracula's sequel, "Dracula the Un-Dead."
With your support, we want to build Dracula Village! We have a passion for the Legend of Dracula and want to share it with the world! We found the best location to build Dracula’s Village in the very heart of the legend - Bran Village in Transylvania. Overlooking Bran Castle, which served as the source of inspiration for Bram Stoker to sketch the castle belonging to his infamous Count Dracula, and the legendary Carpathian Mountains, our location is the ultimate place for your next thematic vacation.
We are working with one of the most talented architects in Transylvania to create the main attractions for your perfect themed holiday. We aim to promote "Responsible Dracula Tourism" as named so by our good friend, Dacre Stoker. This means you will not only be able to soak up a vampire-themed atmosphere but will also have a chance to learn about the real Vlad the Impaler and how Bram Stoker's Dracula came to be connected with Transylvania.
The map of Dracula Village
Our village is to have thematic houses of a late 19th century design - the time when Bram Stoker’s Dracula was first released. We invite you to become part of this great, one-of-a-kind project, and make history for the future generations, as the legend of Dracula has been doing for over 130 years already. We want to create a small village from scratch, with thematic houses, a café, relaxation areas, and exciting opportunities to learn traditional crafts and more! We already used our savings to buy the land and design the plans of the buildings and now we need help with funding to create the main attractions.
Here are the main houses that we want to built, with your support:
Prince Vlad Mansion
Dracula must have been "that Voivode Dracula who won his name against the Turk, over the great river on the very frontier of Turkey-land. The Draculas were, says Arminius, a great and noble race, though now and again were scions who were held by their coevals to have had dealings with the Evil One. They learned his secrets in the Scholomance, amongst the mountains over Lake Hermanstadt, where the devil claims the tenth scholar as his due. In the records are such words as 'stregoica'—witch, 'ordog,' and 'pokol,' and in one manuscript this very Dracula is spoken of as wampyr." This mansion has 8 bedrooms, a restaurant, relaxation areas, and an ornate fireplace.
Stoker’s Retreat
This thematic house is a tribute to Bram Stoker, the man who started everything. It has two bedrooms, one apartment and one living room with kitchenette. The interior will look exactly as Bram Stoker would have wanted.
Harker Café
This cafe will be one of the main attractions of the village. Set on the incline of the property, directly overlooking Bran Castle, it will be a place for story telling, good food, great drinks, and even better friendships.
Whitby Hall
This thematic house has three bedrooms and one living room with kitchenette. We all know that Whitby is a landmark for vampire enthusiasts and want to bring a piece of it to Dracula Village. The interior will take you straight into a British legend.
Mina & Lucy Villas
Mina and Lucy were best friends, so we decided to build a duplex that would please them. Each house has two bedrooms upstairs and one living room with kitchenette downstairs. In our vision, the houses are guarded by a ranger to protect them from Dracula’s evil presence…just in case he decides to drop in for a snack :).
Bela’s Cottage
Bela Lugosi was the first actor to play Count Dracula in the original 1931 film. This small house will have two bedrooms, one living room with kitchenette and a fireplace. The interior will highlight Bela's character and inspire guests to write, read and relax.
Van Helsing Duplex
This is a tough looking house, exactly like Abraham van Helsing. A double duplex, each house has two bedrooms upstairs and one living-room with kitchenette downstairs. Of course, Dracula will never dare to enter!
The Crafts House
This house will serve as a studio-workshop where the famous Romanian traditional blouse "ie" and various handmade wooden products will be made, displayed and sold. Here, our visitors can give the craft a try for themselves or just watch and buy.
The Old House
This house is over 40 years old and will be restored on a tight budget or on a more generous budget. It is located in a more intimate place, having its own front and back yard. You'll love the view from here, as it has a direct view over Bran Castle.
Dacre Stoker, great grand-nephew of Bram Stoker and author of the sequel to Dracula - "Dracula the Un-Dead" is endorsing the Dracula Village project! Watch this video, shot during the 2016 International Vampire Film and Arts Festival in Sighisoara, Romania, in which Dacre reveals more about what will be in store for you at the future Dracula Village!
We’ll offer vacation packages at Indiegogo prices which you can use to enjoy Dracula-themed vacations with us and merchandise including postcards, t-shirts and signed copies of "Dracula the Un-Dead." At the most basic level, the vacation packages available include accommodation for two, 2 nights/3 days, with breakfast and a welcome dinner included (we recommend the traditional "bulz")!
We plan to build one, more, or all of the houses, depending on how much we raise. Dracula Village will secure our place in history and there is no better place in the world to build it than Bran, Transylvania! You’ll find our property just minutes away from Bran Castle and directly overlooking it. Flat terrain, gentle slopes and also a great view of the Carpathian Mountains await you!
We also have the best team do make this project a reality:
Dacre Stoker, the great grand-nephew of Bram Stoker and author of Dracula's sequel, "Dracula the Un-dead."
Gabriel Henegar, the only architect in the world designing buildings in the old Bran style. Here is footage of him working on the plans for Dracula Village.
Sabin, an entrepreneur running a dairy farm. He’ll be in charge of providing guests with fresh cheese - making sure we’re eating healthy.
Daniel, who is our IT specialist, also works for Royal Caribbean.
Radu, an entrepreneur with over 10 years' experience who has raised more than 8 million euros in start-up funding and community development.
We are all supported by our wives, who are also entrepreneurs: interior designer Marinela Filip, Delia (manager of a local newspaper), Iulia (manager of a furniture company), and Alina (co-manager of an IT and consulting company).
We’re pretty sure our project will hit some bumps along the way, not least bureaucratic challenges and booking issues. Construction bureaucracy may slow us down but only Dracula himself could actually stop us from fulfilling this dream! We have experience with navigating European Union grant bureaucracy and, given that most of the buildings are small, we’re confident we’ll be welcoming our first guests by the end of 2017. To thank you for your support, we’re going to create a booking application for our Indiegogo backers. This will ensure that you will have priority in scheduling a great Dracula-themed vacation with us!
We’d really appreciate your support in promoting our project. There is a huge number of Dracula fans out there who would love to know what we’re up to!
Location
Dracula Village is located in Bran Village, Brasov County in the Transylvania region of Romania.
The property of Dracula Village is surrounded by high mountains and is on a plateau directly overlooking Bran Castle.

FAQ
1. Why should I go to Dracula Village?
We can give you three main reasons to come when the project is ready. First is the location itself. Our property is on Sohodol Hill in Bran, on a flat area with a gentle slope and a truly unique view. From the property you can admire the famous Bran Castle which is just a couple of minutes away by foot, and the stunning Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains which all are over 2,000 meters high. You can go hiking, biking and visit popular vampire sight-seeing destinations like Sighisoara citadel, the birth place of Vlad the Impaler, or Poenari Fortress which was reinforced by Vlad. The second reason is the houses we’re planning to build, designed by a very talented architect called Gabriel Henegar- the only architect working in the old Bran style. Our houses are designed to replicate those existing at the time Bram Stoker wrote Dracula, allowing you to step dramatically back to his day and age. The third reason is the knowledge you’ll be gaining by visiting us. Not only will you be able to visit the most important destinations for vampire fans, but you’ll get to learn the truth about Vlad the Impaler, the connection between the character of Dracula and Transylvania, and the relation between the fictional places from the Dracula novel and the real places in Transylvania, including the exact location of “Dracula's Castle.” Here’s a teaser, which our good friend Dacre Stoker revealed to us: Bram Stoker, while doing research for his book, happened upon a sketch of Bran Castle. He liked it so much that he used it as a source of inspiration to design the castle of his infamous Count Dracula.
2. When can I book my vacation?
We’ll send out an email as soon as our booking application is ready. You’ll be able to use the voucher we send you after you buy a perk to make a reservation. You will also have booking priority.
3. When will I receive my vacation voucher/s?
You’ll receive your online vacation voucher by email after the Indiegogo campaign is over. As a security measure, we’ll ask you to show the mailed voucher at check-in.
4. How long does the vouchers last?
The vouchers are valid up to 20 years after the inauguration of Dracula Village.
5. Can the vouchers be sold or offered as a gift?
Absolutely! This is one of the beauties of our campaign. Feel free to offer vacations in Dracula Village as presents or simply resell your vouchers.
6. How can I be sure that Dracula Village will be built?
We are going to build it either all at once, if we raise enough money, or in phases, if we raise part of it. One thing we know for sure: this is our dream project and a guarantee we’ll be remembered among those ensuring the continuation of the Legend of Dracula. In the best case scenario, we’ll build the village as shown on the map. In the worst case scenario, if we raise only a few bucks, we’ll use the money to rehabilitate the Old House. This way, you’ll still have the chance to experience a Dracula vacation with us, enjoying all the amenities of the house and its location.
7. Where is Dracula Village located?
We’ve found the perfect location for Dracula Village: in Bran, Transylvania (Romania), on Sohodol Hill, overlooking Bran Castle just half a kilometer away.
8. What kind of community am I getting myself into?
You will become part of a select community of fans of everything related to Dracula. You’ll be able to sign-up for an account on our website www.DraculaVillage.com and meet fellow vampire friends. You’ll also be able to count yourself among our core group of friends and thus have access to discounted products like wooden crafts, Transylvanian products like the Romanian “ie” (blouse) and you’ll be among the first to hear of our latest special vacation packages.
9. Is Dracula Village eco-friendly?
Since we are building it from scratch, we are considering green solutions to keep the village as off the grid as possible. For example, we want to use solar panels, heating pumps, isolation made from wool and other eco-friendly materials.
10. What is the Dracula Village Wall of Fame?
We plan to create a Dracula Village Wall of Fame as a way to remember and thank our backers. This Wall will be made inside Prince Vlad Mansion, Harker Cafe or any of the houses, depending on how much we raise and the total number of our backers. Your name will thus stay in Dracula Village so that we will always remember who are the folks who made this project a reality!
