Founded in early 2014 by small business owners Joe Lax and
Simone Virden, GlobalEcoBrands.com is a virtual marketplace that focuses on innovative
and forward-thinking product lines. We work directly with manufacturers that
are passionate about reducing our consumption of natural resources, using
renewable energy in everyday life, and of course, creating products that are
high-quality.
“Reducing our imprint, increasing our impact”
Since the launch of GlobalEcoBrands.com, the one thing
Simone and I noticed is we talk a good green-game here in the United States,
but overall, our daily habits haven’t changed. So, we know we’re stressing our
resource infrastructure, but there’s no education on how to reduce that stress.
There’s no overall awareness of the magnitude of our continuous destruction of
our own planet.
One of our manufacturers, EcoSavers, has the largest program
of energy-saving products, and developed the ENERGY SAVINGS BOX in 2006. It’s a
kit of 10 simple products that help you reduce consumption of resources (water,
gas), use energy more efficiently, while saving you money. (On average, a small household can saving more than $200 annually in utilities.) Even more, it is a wonderful educational tool for all of
us. Since its launch, the program has gained partners in many European
countries, and the regional impact is clear. (See impact section below.)
GlobalEcoBrands.com has been asked to be the first North
American partner, and we’re so excited! But we definitely need your help. Each
contribution allows us not only to bring in more products, but also to gift
them to under-resourced families. Furthermore, each view and share of this
campaign increases awareness, and hopefully, fosters more conversation about
the sustainability of energy.
FUNDING
So, here’s the deal. We’re asking for $10,000 (because asking for $10,000,000 would sounds nuts). And the
breakdown is fairly simple:
Marketing – 40%
Product Acquisition – 30%
Logistics – 15%
Administration – 15%
You’re probably wondering why we would allocate more for
marketing than the product in the boxes. Well, our biggest hurdle in all of
this is awareness…of the product, but also of what problem the boxes are trying
to solve. We want to engage individuals, businesses, schools, government, and
utilities…and that takes time.
The Energy Saving Boxes will be available for sale on
GlobalEcoBrands.com after this campaign, but we will not be selling them for
profit. So, whether we reach our goal or not, the money will still be allocated
in the same percentages to make as many boxes available as possible. AND…the
EcoSavers Foundation has pledged 100 additional boxes if we exceed our
contribution goal by $5,000. Talk about worldwide partners working together to make a global impact!
And our perks are so much fun! Of course, most incentive
levels include an Energy Saving Box for you to keep, and/or to gift to someone
in need. There are coupons and other products from GlobalEcoBrands.com, as well
as an opportunity to determine where some of the boxes are donated! But, the
main idea behind our perks, at all levels, is awareness.
IMPACT
In October of this year, Eco-Watch published a list of the “Top
Ten Greenest Countries”. Of those ten, five (5!) of those countries are part of
the EcoSavers Energy Saving Box network. EcoSavers owns many patents and design
registrations on their products, and are constantly innovating. Because of
that, they are able to quickly customize boxes that work better with specific infrastructures.
And here’s how they did it:
Local Government: In the Netherlands, the boxes were given
to under-resource families, and those on Social Security. Because they were
given to individuals first, they were able to note the savings, and see the
impact of awareness immediately.
Energy/Utility Companies: Once the savings were documented,
these boxes were used as incentives for utility customers.
Corporate/Promotional: Businesses all over the world have
Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines, and the boxes helped business meet
certain CSR requirements while offering promotional/branding opportunities. (A
few of the item in the ESB can be printed or “stickered”.)
RISKS
As a company, our biggest obstacle is our capacity. There
are two of us taking on this movement, but we are dedicated to making a positive
impact through our business. We thoroughly believe in ourselves, and in what we
represent. GlobalEcoBrands.com is a sustained business; but to sustain this
program we need help, and that’s why we’re launching this campaign. Regardless
of the money raised, we are bringing the Energy Saving Box program stateside;
but with your help, we can do it faster, more efficiently, and more
importantly, we can create a much larger movement for reducing our imprint and preserving our planet.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
Share. Talk. Educate yourself, your children on the current
state of our resources. From water shortages on the west coast, to strained
electric infrastructure on the east coast, to high oil costs coast-to-coast, we
are struggling. We cannot have smart infrastructure without smart products; and
smart products are pointless without smart habits.
