Fed up with the life that she was painted into, Cecilia decides to leave: But she has no idea what exists beyond the edge of her own frame...

This story uses the realm of visual art to tackle female autonomy. In a world where the rules are created for women, it is our battle to take back control of our own lives, just like our protagonist, Cecilia, ventures out to do. Cecilia wants to know who she is and wants a chance at making her own choices in life, so she must journey from painting to painting along her gallery’s wall in hopes of finding a way to the human world. There lies a young woman who she thinks might have the answers she’s looking for.

This little film sprang from our frustration with the fact that stories centering around female empowerment are still fighting for space in the cultural conversation. This year Dr. Martha Lauzen at the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film discover that "Overall, female characters were outnumbered by males two to one” in the U.S.’s top films of 2021. But, we know that women out there have stories to tell and the ability to tell them very well. Sometimes, when you've been kept quiet for years, you have the loudest story to tell.

If you aren’t given the chance to be yourself, whims and all, how will you ever know who you truly are? Escapist films, such as Pleasantville, The Truman Show, and Amelie, tell stories of people seeking lives away from their status quo. Our film takes the concepts and visual styles of escapist films, and grounds ours in the human need for discovery.

As recent college graduates and current undergraduates, we understand how intimidating change can be, and how the unknown future is invariably frightening. But we also understand the courage it takes to face these obstacles head-on and the rewards that could await us if we take the jump.

There is an entire community of female filmmakers looking to get their stories told, and we are happy to be one of them. In our own piece of the world’s gallery, we see firsthand how the power of community  Uplifts the stories of artists and helps them get told.

Well, let's say that making a $20,000 movie when we're still trying to pay out student loans is hard as f*ck.  So we need your help to cover these  expenses (or maybe someone at Warner Bros who decides to finance us, both could work):

If like me, math isn't your thing, here's an explanation of that colorful pie:

We’re raising funds for a 10 pages short script, which we’ll begin shooting shortly at the beginning of next year. The majority of our budget is going toward equipment, crew, cast, locations, etc.

We'll use around $14,800 for production, $8,300 of which will cover the Camera Department costs, $4,300 to pay for the labor, and $1,800 to buy and rent props, costumes, and set design to make the movie come to life. $1,850 will be saved for the post-production costs like color, editing, sound design, and obviously original music. Lastly, $1,250 will go towards our film festival run - because yes, we are making a movie to have people watch it, not to keep it in our hard drive. A good chunk of cash turns out to be a pretty tight budget once you break it all down!

Yeah, making a movie is not as cheap as it seems... at least if you want to make it right! And we want to make it perfect!

We’re a badass team of passionate, hard-working, and multi-talented ABSOLUTE LEGENDS, of course.

We're proudly:

✔️Mostly female

✔️Under 25

✔️From all over the US and Europe

✔️Entirely AWESOME!
