Our Story

Written and directed by Fraser Coull (Night is Day) and produced by Ross Hardie (Night is Day) and Robyn Mackinnon (The Flower Girl), Get Funded  Chris, Katie and Mark are fresh out of film school and while Chris has had a taste of success with his music video, “Say No To Retro” for goth-rock band Devil in my Garden, the trio have yet to hit the big time. Sweetheart Chris, who is hiding his true feelings for girl-next-door Katie, has come up with a masterpiece of a script, the only problem is finding the money to put their film in front of the camera.

At first our trio follow the traditional paths of making a film – applying for funding at a film board, asking their friends and families, holding fundraising parties and even entering a talent contest. With none of their ideas bringing them closer to filmmaking glory, desperation sets in as well as the very real possibility that they will be stuck in their day jobs for the rest of their lives.

After their rival wins a prestigious filmmaking award, the trio forget their morals and start a complicated campaign to exploit sleazy men with more money than sense, target little old ladies tea rooms and even targeting local, small banks until they eventually get mixed up with two film loving gangsters, Kevin and William McDade, who take pity on them and decide to fund their film, as long as their niece Moxy, is given the starring role in the film.

Why should you support this film?

Get Funded is a unique project from Scotland, as in recent years the country has neglected heart-warming, genuinely funny comedy feature films. What we want to do is put a funny, feel-good film into the cinemas in the UK and around the world, for everybody to see, and hopefully inspire them to follow their dreams.

We are recruiting professional film crew members for the production so the money we do raise will go to renting the best equipment possible so our crew can make a professional looking film to stand up against the Hollywood blockbusters in the cinema. Our cast and crew will be working hard throughout the entire shoot and we want to be able to pay everybody to take the time out to make the film. 

With proper funding we will also be able to approach big named stars in the film and TV world to help draw in the bigger crowds of the film and gather more support so that the film is shown in as many countries as possible. 

When "Get Funded" becomes a success we can show the world what we can achieve and more opportunities will be provided to filmmakers and actors throughout the country and we will be able to create a thriving film industry in the country where filmmaking professionals and students can get first hand experience at making a film or a TV show.

With the initial £10,000 we are able to raise we will be able to secure the proper crew to assist us in securing the rest of our finance to shoot the film, pay for initial test shooting, securing locations, some of our bigger-name actors that we want to cast in the film.
