The Glassy Mountain
I have made an album, "The Glassy Mountain" and I would like to raise money for its launch and tour.
The album is a powerful personal exploration of grief. The songs vary in their style from intimate, folk songs that feel a bit European, to moments of visceral lamenting, to gently upbeat pop songs. It was produced by Jim Sutherland, and features performances from some of the best musicians in Scotland in the realms of folk and jazz: Euan Burton, Steven Christie, Pete Clark, Fraser Fifield, David Hart, Chris Peacock, Matheu Watson and also brilliant Jim Rattigan from London. Most of these musicians will play at the Edinburgh launch at Scottish Storytelling Centre on the 2nd November.
Launching and Touring
After the launch, I would like to tour with Jim Rattigan and Matheu Watson, in the UK. The tour is being arranged by Beatnik Events. The money I raise here will be used to pay for accommodation, transport and to pay the musicians for their wonderful work.
We have lovely perks for you: copies of the album, limited edition prints of Kate Aspinall's stunning artwork, songs and house concerts.
If we don't raise the full amount we will do as much touring as possible with what we have. If we raise more it will all be used for more performances.
The Impact
By touring my album I will be able to take it personally to places and people in a way that social media and itunes can't. It will be an opportunity to perform my songs with wonderful and sensitive musicians in carefully chosen places suitable for the kind of intimate music we will make. I hope it might be useful to people who have suffered grief in different ways, giving words and music to certain feelings but also that it will speak to people, whatever their experience is.
Spread the Word
Even the smallest donation is a big help, but even if you can't afford to give anything, you can still help by spreading the word far and wide. Indiegogo has 'share tools' that can help you with that.
THANK YOU!
