As a Registered Dietitian, I work with hundreds of people every year to develop diet and menu plans that will help them achieve their health and weight goals. Throughout the past several years of making hundreds of food product recommendations, I've noticed such a lack of high quality on-the-go food products on the market. Being in the heart of New York City, I come face-to-face with busy people who don't always have time to sit down and eat a full meal. They need something fast and easy to carry with them, but they also want something that will nourish and sustain them without the sugar rush, GMOs, or artificial ingredients. This delicious and balanced combination is pretty difficult to find! Most convenience foods, even healthier ones, still contain poor quality protein, lots of sugar, genetically modified ingredients, or lots of chemicals and additives. My solution to this?

Create the very product I've been looking for!

Enter Golda Bar.

It was important to me that I develop a bar that contains ingredients almost everyone recognizes. I've grown tired of seeing many confused clients try to read complicated food labels in an effort to figure out what they're actually eating. I want Golda Bar customers to really know what they're putting in their bodies. So, over the past year I've put my creative thinking cap on and combined my favorite ingredients into one little delicious package.

Chock full of organic cacao, grass fed whey protein, coconut oil, and almond butter, these sweet little bars deliver high quality protein, carbs and healthy fats--without the sugar, chemicals, gluten, and genetically engineered ingredients that appear all too often on ingredients lists.Because frankly, feeding people crappy food is not really my thing. As a Registered Dietitian, I want to change the convenience food market for the better. I want everyone from busy professionals to multi-tasking moms to overwhelmed college students to athletes and every busy person in between to have convenient and healthy food options--no compromises. And I believe Golda Bar has an excellent chance of achieving just that.

- Developing detailed marketing strategy for brand development

- Identifying corporate partnership with nutrition-focused nonprofit

- Continuing to network with health and wellness professionals

- Networking with local health food stores for distribution

- Connecting with the public in social media pages

What We Still Need To Do

- Begin selling Golda Bar (scheduled to go online January 1)

- Gather and analyze more detailed market demand for current and future products

- Activate marketing strategy and ad placement

- Formalize corporate relationship with chosen non-profit

- Schedule and attend networking events, trade shows, and other marketing event opportunities

So, why does Golda Bar need an Indiegogo campaign?

I've invested my own time and money into all of the activities mentioned in the first list above ("What We've Already Done"). Now that I've confirmed the bars' target market, received positive feedback on ingredients and quality, and begun to solidify marketing strategy and online presence, I've determined that the bars have a strong future in the clean, organic food marketplace. I believe in Golda Bar, and the positive responses I've been getting from target consumers have confirmed that it can and will do well. I simply need more resources to support Golda Bar's next steps ("What We Still Need To Do" above) healthfully. I will be providing regular updates here on Kickstarter as Golda Bar continues to develop and grow, and more specifically, backers will receive regular email updates with details about how their contributions are growing Golda Bar! My ultimate goal is for Golda Bar to expand past nutrition bar development into a company that offers a wide range of nutritious, convenient food options for busy lifestyles all around the world.

Risks and challenges

As with all new projects, there will be challenges I face in moving forward.

A challenge I'm currently tackling is demand and supply. Golda Bar has received such great feedback, and we are currently working through some production limitations to meet the level of demand for the bars. I've been in daily communication with my production company to resolve any ingredient and production issues, and they are working hard to resolve them. We're committed to staying true to our quality promise (non-GMO, low sugar, no artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols, gluten free and organic ingredients), so this may mean taking some extra time to work through any production issues that arise.
