On Oct 4th, Hurricane Matthew, a Category 4 hurricane barrelled through Haiti, destroying homes and displacing thousands of people in the country. Winds reached up to 220km/h and as much as 600mm of rain in certain parts. A small, removed community in the Southwest, “ Léogâne” was one of the worst hit in the country, a bridge in the community that connected them to the rest of the country washed away, leaving the roads impassible and all communication cut off. Haiti Perspectives staff is on the ground now working to provide immediate support. Our team needs crucial supplies and support as they will need to bring water, food, shelter and any other items such as hygiene kits etc to the affected people. Our main priority is to support the children who have been affected and their families. Our team wants to move further south as supplies are distributed to reach the even more remote communities. Your support will help us get the necessary supplies to these children and families who have lost so much during this devastating storm.
Anyone interested in donating to our team right now we are asking for you to use our Generosity account:https://www.generosity.com/emergencies-fundrais...
Anyone wanting to come forth with additional support please reach out via our facebook page as we have a Canadian coordinator waiting to respond. https://www.facebook.com/HaitiPerspectives/
**DISCLAIMER**
Please note this page and the donations provided prior to Oct 7th 2016 are still going to Haiti Perspectives Education Fund. We will be focusing on emergency relief to Haiti until Oct 15th, because as you know the community has been majorly affected. Our education fund will continue after Oct 15 or by request as we do want to ensure these children can start getting back to a normal sense of life after being caught in such a devastating storm. We ask that any additional donations towards the emergency fund after Oct 15th go to http://www.devxchange.org/haiti
