MILLIONS LACK SAFE WATER IN GHANA, AFRICA
The glaring reality is we as humans on planet Earth must
drink clean water to survive – the human body depends on it. Yet, more than a
billion people across the globe don’t have access to safe, clean drinking
water. They are forced to collect water from
unsafe sources, such as rainfalls, ponds, streams and rivers that are
contaminated.
In Ghana, West-Africa,
drinking unsafe water is the leading cause of death in children in rural
communities before age three. In fact, a child dies every 20 seconds from
drinking unsafe water in Ghana. Unsafe water sources breed water-bourne
diseases, ill health, and oftentimes, pemature death.
Safe drinking water is indispensable
to life and it has been mandated by the United Nations as a human right.
RWA International’s mission is to save the lives of children
and rural communities by purifying polluted water sources with proven clean
water technology, thereby eliminating diseases and ill health.
RWA International has collected some heart-wrenching
statistics:
- Over 3,000 children under
5 years of age die annually from polluted water and poor sanitation in
Ghana.
- 3.5 million people in
Ghana lack access to an improved water sources.
- Over 9 million people
don’t have access to safe drinking water.
- 80% of all diseases in
most parts of Africa are caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.
- The lack of safe water in Ghana results in an economic burden to the
country.
Ghana is largely rural and
does not have the capacity to provide safe water from large municipal treatment
plants to serve its populace. High
costs, hard-to-reach locations and power requirements are barriers to providing
solutions to the problem.
A COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION EXISTS!
RWA International has studied extensive
testing and research to analyze the best water purification systems and
technologies that are available to the entire world, and concluded that the Triad
Global Water Purification System is without any doubt the best cost-effective, patented
technology available to respond to the specific challenges facing Ghana.
The system is manufactured in Atlanta, Georgia USA with subsidiaries in Nigeria
and South Sudan, Africa.
Features of the Triad Global
Water Purification System
- Uses patented medical
technology. Thousands of tiny, hollow fibers filter out contaminates and
produce clean pure water.
- Membrane pore is .04
microns that traps bacteria, viruses, protozoa, cysts, parasites, and
eliminates turbidity to yield safe clean water that meets World Health
Organization (WHO) standards.
- Manually operated.
Produces clean water immediately after set up.
- Requires no electricity,
no chemicals, lightweight, portable, easy to maintain.
- No sophisticated
monitoring required, and no special skills required to operate the unit.
- System treats 1,000 liters
of water per hour and 10,000 liters per day.
- Can be set up as a bank of
units for high volume water requirements.
- Expected lifetime 10 years
service per unit.
50 Installations in the Next 24
Months
RWA
International plans to establish 50 water purification units within the next 24
months in 50 selected rural communities. And, over the next 10 years, to
install units in 250 rural communities. Each installation will cost $15,000
U.S. dollars.
Water Purification Installations
include:
- The mobile water purification
unit.
- Water storage tanks for
raw water and purified water.
- A concrete block enclosure
with Iron Gate to house and protect the unit.
- Transportation and per
diem costs for volunteers to build the installation.
RWA International will engage the local
Chiefs /Community leaders who select the location for each installation, ensuring
that raw water is available at that location (e.g. well water, river, lake,
etc.). The community is gifted the water purification installation because it
is too poor to purchase it. RWA international will provide training to a community
representative for the proper service and operation of the system.

into saving lives by growing and maintaining our water purification programs.
