For years, Texas NORML and Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy have been working to give patients access to medical marijuana in Texas and reduce penalties for low-level possession.
A Window of Opportunity This Spring
Right now, we have strong bipartisan support for reform in the Texas Legislature and a record setting number of bills have been introduced for consideration. There’s a very small window to make this happen before the session ends in May.
Let’s Get These Laws Across the Finish Line in 2019!
We’ve heard from thousands of Texas veterans, people with cancer or chronic pain, and other debilitating medical conditions who are suffering.
And, chances are, you know many, too. It’s just wrong that families have to travel out of state to find relief through medical marijuana. It’s time to give Texans medical freedom without having to uproot their families. And we are very close to making this a reality in this current legislative session, which ends May 27th.
Your Donations Will Work Hard to Get These Laws Passed
Your donation will be split between Texas NORML and Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy. These two groups are led by well-known and respected advocates for individual liberty, and personal responsibility around marijuana laws in Texas. Jax Finkel is the Executive Director of Texas NORML and has been involved in cannabis law reform since 2005. Heather Fazio leads Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy and has worked in this arena for ten years. Both are familiar faces at the Capitol who have worked tirelessly to inform and build coalitions with our Texas lawmakers to create fair and compassionate marijuana laws.
These two groups collaborate closely with others that span the political spectrum, but share a value of freedom for Texans to get fair and compassionate marijuana legislation passed.
These include the Tenth Amendment Center, Texans for Accountable Government, Texas Young Republicans, Texas Criminal Justice Coalition, Students for Sensible Drug Policy, Students for Liberty, the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas, Republicans Against Marijuana Prohibition, the Reason Foundation, Progress Texas, the Marijuana Policy Project, the Libertarian Party of Texas, Libertarian Christians, Law Enforcement Action Partnership, Clergy for a New Drug Policy, the Austin Justice Coalition and ACLU Texas.
Your donation ensures we can deliver these critical action items for this current session:
• Lobbying of state legislators, regulatory agencies & community leaders
• Effective grassroots mobilization & coalition building
• Education and media outreach
Why Access to Medical Marijuana is So Crucial
Medical marijuana often relieves chronic pain and increases the quality of life for people with PTSD, cancer, autism and other debilitating conditions without harmful side effects.
Too many patients are needlessly suffering.
Additionally, in states where access to medical marijuana is legal, opioid deaths have declined by 20% the first year following approval. Solid proof that access to medical marijuana is saving lives.
It’s time to make a change in our law so Texans have safe and legal access to medical marijuana!
Thank YOU
