The Hobart Festival of Women Writers began as a kitchen table idea more than eleven years ago.
Ideas that spring to life around a dinner table, over coffee, or on a bus usually turn out well. The Hobart Festival of Women Writers was conceived to showcase women's literary work published in all genres. In 2013, we invited a group of writers to come to Hobart, New York for the weekend to offer workshops, perform public readings of their work, and sell books. The Hobart Festival of Women Writers has become an annual destination for readers, writers, and all lovers of language.
Since the inception of our weekend dedicated to celebrating women authors and their work, we have relied on the generosity of our friends, neighbors, and colleagues for financial support. The Hobart Festival of Women Writers is driven by a strong belief in recognizing and compensating women for their creative work. Your contributions have been instrumental in honoring our writers with a modest honorarium, a testament to their hard work. We are deeply grateful for your past support and want to stress that your continued contributions are vital for us to continue this important work.
Additionally, our writers offer their books for sale throughout the Festival weekend, further supporting their creative endeavors.
We need your support.
To keep pace with the cost of living, we ask that you give what is comfortable for you and spread the word about our weekend, our mission, and our vision for a more inclusive literary landscape.
We want you to know that all contributions are appreciated.
No donation is too small.
Thank you for your continuing support
Why not come up and join us in The Hobart Book Village.
