We're a small creative team based in NYC and LA whose love of theatre and adventure brings us together about twice a year for you! We love performing; the late night analytical discussions, the last minute debacles. We even love when everything goes wrong, because it somehow always turns out right. But what we love most is bringing our message to YOU! We have shown our play, IRIS, to a number of audiences with totally different demographics: the high-brow theatre crowd, families, business folk, struggling artists, old people, young people, even people who have never heard plays before. And listening to the reactions of the various minds is what we live for.
We have been lucky enough to be asked to perform IRIS at the PORTFRINGE Festival in Portland, Maine in June. This is an opportunity to share our words and messages with a whole new audience and gain exposure for the future. We believe that everyone has their own message to spread in theatre. Ours is a message of hope. This is where we need YOUR help! With your help and generous contributions we can take this beautiful message to the good people of Portland, Maine.
What's IRIS about?
IRIS is a coming of age story about a young woman which touches on many issues that affect young women and are often looked over in today's plays. Iris falls head over heals in love with a older boy, Alexander. The first act explores their tumultuous relationship. Through arguments, veiled threats, and panic attacks both Iris and Alexander attempt to hold the power. This explodes when Iris reveals a secret and Alexander inevitably leaves her.
The second act of IRIS leaves the naturalistic world of act one behind and travels into a wonderland-like expressionistic world that Iris herself creates. Lost and looking for someone to help her through her difficult situation, everything and everyone Iris knows is magnified. She journeys from character to character attempting to find a simple solution to her now very difficult problem. She discovers that her solution doesn't lie in the hands of others, but rather inside herself.
The Perks of Helping Us Out
We are asking for $2,000 to fund our trip and performance to Maine. We have already performed IRIS twice before in two different cities, and we know exactly what we need to make this dream a reality. We enjoy the challenge of being a small troupe and making do with the gifts we're given. Here is a breakdown of what we need the money for.
Travel Expenses and Housing: $1,000
Food and Necessities for Creative Team: $300
Costumes/props: $100
Tech Equipment: $100
Marketing: $200
Rehearsal Space: $100
Administrative Costs (scripts and fees and last minute castastrophes): $200

ALSO! If we reach our goal of $2,000 We are going to have a celebration party in NYC! You will be invited if you make a contribution. You'll be able to meet and chat with the creative team!

The Impact
We cannot stress how much this means to us. We love the many adventures that IRIS has already taken us on and we can't wait to see where she'll take us in the future.
Much like our protagonist, we want to reach out to as many people as we can. But we can't do it alone. If you reach out to us, we can reach out to them. We hope that PORTFRINGE is a success and helps us grow as a creative team. We hope that this is another stepping stone on IRIS' journey. And maybe we can bring IRIS to a city near you in the future!
