I was getting so many telemarketer calls at home that I built a robot to talk to them. It has been so effective at wasting telemarketer time, that I am offering the service to protect anyone's phone in the USA at only $6/year! Interesting facts about the telecommunications industry:
- It has been around for 140 years.
- The Federal Communications Commission was created (in part) to regulate it, starting with AT&T and its "natural monopoly".
- Every state has a Utilities Commission (or equivalent) to regulate it.
- There are many law offices devoted to Telecommunications law.
- All levels of government have created laws affecting it.
Despite all of the above, I am doing something that has never been tested in court. I am providing a bot to speak with telemarketers to waste their time. This bot protects your home and mobile telephones by consuming the most precious resource in the unsolicited telemarketer industry - human agents.
Most unsolicited telemarketers are breaking the law. But a small percentage are barley skirting the borders of legality. This small group of "legal" unsolicited telemarketers have deep pockets and lots of lawyers. I fully expect this industry to come crashing down upon my head. I am just a normal guy who works on telephones and do not have the legal resources to defend myself from frivolous lawsuits designed to stop this telemarketer bot.
