Kindergarten for Jrashen, Armenia
Operation: Reconstructing the Future—is a special project launched under HRI—which aims to open kindergartens in underprivileged villages of Armenia. These projects aim to enhance the social capabilities of the village children, empower a new generation of students, support young families, and promote the economy and social equality of villages.
The first Operation: Reconstructing the Future project was completed in 2014, in the village of Tsaghkaber, located in the Lori Province. Members of the organization, renovated, furnished, and opened a kindergarten for the village of Tsaghkaber. This kindergarten has been operating since the September of 2014 and currently serves 32 children between the ages of 4 and 6 and employs 7 childcare professionals.
The success and the sustainability of this project suggests that it should be continued. Thus we hope to replicate this project in other locations. The village of Jrashen, located in the Ararat Provence, is the prospective location for the next Operation: Reconstructing the Future project.
Jrashen is a village located in the Ararat Province of Armenia, with a population of about 1700 (smaller than most US public schools). The main branch of the economy is agriculture; however, most of the able-bodied men, for 6-8 months/year, migrate to Russia for work; leaving women to care for the fields, the household, and their children throughout most of the year. Thus, the lack of a functioning kindergarten, makes the job of the village women much more difficult and leaves children with limited proper socialization/education, thus less prepared for school and success in education.
The purpose of this campaign is to raise funds for the renovation, furnishing, and opening of a kindergarten in the village of Jrashen, Armenia.
