La Lula needs a new engine
Meet La Lula, a 1969 Volkswagen bus that I purchased when my wife was pregnant in 2006. La Lula wasn't named for 18 months unto Ernesto (my son) gave the name "La Lula" when he was trying to speak. La Lula mostly serves as my living space and studio where I paint and make handcrafts.
I started painting in 2010 where La Lula was my first project and she then became the first ‘art vehicle’ in El Salvador.
Except from the steering wheel and column, everything else is original since 1969, including the engine! And there is no major rust.
In 2015, I set up a Facebook page to share my adventures and now have over 8000 followers!
In February 2016, I was in Belize and La Lula’s engine was playing up where it turned out that the engine block in La Lula cracked. So, I found a mechanic who was able to temporarily patch her up. This was because the mechanic quoted that the cost of a full repair for La Lula would be $4000 USD, an amount I don't have.
If you like following me, appreciate my art and would like to support the work I do, would you like to consider donating to La Lula for a new engine.
It would be my greatest pleasure to continue my journey with La Lula, share the stories and spread the goodwill with you.
I hope to be able to leave El Salvador and continue this journey onto Nicaragua and beyond, including South America. Would YOU like to come?
Please share this photo and story of La Lula. – https://www.facebook.com/La-Lula-905159119547942/?fref=ts
