Every week I meet people who tell me they wish they could grow their own food. Then come the BUTs...
“But, I don’t know how”
“But, I don’t have the space”
“But, it’s too time consuming”
I am
passionate about sharing knowledge on urban farming with others so that everyone can
experience the joy of eating food from their own backyard!
What We Need
We are working on establishing a demonstration garden that would show people how easy it is to grow their own food in a
variety of small and large spaces with as much or as little time as you have.
We are planning to
build an annual vegetable garden, a permaculture food forest, a chicken coop,
a herb and medicinal garden, and a ‘bees, birds, and butterfly’ garden.
We are going to turn this...

Once the garden is established, we are going to start running workshops
on how to grow food in an urban yard or on balconies in less than 2 hours a week; how
to garden organically; and how to apply permaculture principles to your property.
The money we raise will be used to start up this project; we’ll use it to buy seeds, trees, bushes, and
fencing (for the racoons and occasional deer).
Even a small donation will help!
A seedling costs around $4 and a tree $60-$100.

What You Get
You can donate any amount you want, but if you donate more than $25, $60, or $500 you have the option to get any of these perks:
For $25 you can follow along with our garden to keep on track with yours. We will be sending growing tips appropriate for each stage of your new organic garden. You will also have access to an exclusive group where you can post pictures of your garden and and ask questions along the way.
For $60 you will have the option to take part in a one-day workshop on site to see the garden and food forest in process and participate in hands-on learning about different gardening techniques - and of course sample the delicious goodies from the garden (Please note this will be on site, near Ottawa, Ontario).
OR
For $60 you can get a hard copy of the Just Food Garden Guide, which provides tons of useful advice on growing your own garden - including a guide to companion planting.
For $500, you will have access to a personalized, detailed, design plan coaching for your growing space, which includes what, when, and how to plant and harvest your own vegetables (valid for Canada and USA only).
The Impact
You are contributing to the food revolution by helping us test out a new way of land sharing in a small peri-urban community that will have a positive ecological outcome, build community relationships, teach and learn about gardening and food security, grow the local food movement, help bees to regain their habitats, and provide food to the community.
In addition, this project will provide a training opportunity for one of many new
organic farmers that are searching for a piece of land to 'test out
their farming skills' and practice growing a small farming business.
Be part of a food revolution - where growing our own food becomes the norm and soggy lettuce from the grocery store is a thing of the past.
