Lifeit Cafe and Feel Good Center is raising funds for the long awaited reopening of Lifeit Cafe in its own building. The cafe and center is a place I want to create for people to feel good that is not just a temporary high. I want to give something they can also take home with them that will benefit them far beyond just one good tasting healthy meal. The food that we will serve is healing. But I want to take it a step further than just being healthy, I infuse the food with so much soul and so much love that it is not only healing but the flavor makes the pickiest meat eater come back for more! My goal is for people to leave the cafe and center feeling healthier, more energetic, and happier than they came in.
The Cafe and Feel Good Center is located in the historical Reedy River District of Downtown Greenville, South Carolina.
What is a Lifeit? A Lifeit is a wholistic lifestyle centered around life giving principles including eating Fresh Living Foods. Our focus is on a RAW VEGAN (plant-based) lifeit because we feel it is the most natural and regenerative option available, the most beneficial for health, and will ultimately create a better quality of life. We also offer a few cooked vegan items such as soups and sandwiches (with gluten free options). On our menu you will find savory, soulful, and cultural dishes such as Southern Nut Loaf, Mashed Potatoes and Down Home Gravy, Creamy Marinated Kale Greens, Spinach Quiche, Rawlafels, "Fried Fish" which is actually marinated zucchini wrapped in seaweed, dipped in a seasoned sunflower seed batter and dehydrated until crispy. We also have a variety of salads, desserts, organic smoothies, and low fat raw vegan options. The feel good center will focus on classes, workshops, and venues for artistic expression such poetry, open mics, and music.
The Impact
I recently lost some very special people to me because of health reasons and it has really jolted me to complete this project. This project has taken me so much longer doing it by myself and I am so grateful that I found a better more creative and less stressful way to fund this project. It is so important for us to have affordable and convenient healthy places to eat out, to learn how to eat healthier, and to unwind naturally.
What We Need & How we will use it
Our goal is to raise $15,000 in 60 days to get opened by the spring.
The money is needed - to fulfill the city code requirements to pave our already gravel parking lot for 7 spaces and a handicapped van accessible parking space and provide a wheelchair access ramp into the building.
-A Larger DHEC required hot water heater
-Plumbing including installing 3 compartment sink already purchased
-A few pieces of kitchen equipment still needed
-Installation of smoothie bar and counter
-Signage
-A few more restaurant styled tables and chairs
-Initial food investment and eco-friendly to-go containers
This project must happen, so we will be hosting several other fundraisers, whatever it takes to get it done. I have already put several thousand dollars into this project and will continue to find creative ways to get it done.
Even though we have not been able to fund this project in traditional ways such as bank loans, etc. This is actually better because it allows for greater creativity and freedom, less debt and therefore greater chances for success.
We have great incentives for this project, so please take advantage of them and make sure that you share them with others using the convenient sharing tools available. Every little bit helps, no amount is too small.
Thank you so much,
Latrice Folkes
