LOCKED DOORS is a student-led senior thesis short film production, written and directed by Laura Quiñones, for the TH 3359 Advanced Film Directing class at Texas State University.
This story features two central characters: Matt Parker, an affectionate and protective father who processes his grief privately, struggling to openly vocalize the pain he has experienced in life; and Dani Parker, an independent yet scared young girl who likes to perceive herself as mature and grown-up, but in reality, finds safety and comfort in her father's presence while still navigating her identity and youth.
Director's Statement:
I want this film to reflect the trials and struggles of parenthood, grief, and communication. I love to showcase good, loving father-daughter relationships, and I want the audience to see the vulnerability and warmth that grows as Matt & Dani struggle and bond throughout the evening.
Matt’s struggle to reconnect with his daughter is one that requires him to showcase his more affectionate and vulnerable side, while Dani must allow herself to be vulnerable and recognize the fact that part of her childhood and innocence was lost when she lost her mother.

Making a movie costs money. Especially with this being a student production, money is an extremely valuable resource that drastically impacts the production value of the film. Your graciously donated dollars will fund the production expenses of our film, which is scheduled to shoot this April 2024! In other words, your support allows us to make this movie - and to make it amazing.
Every dollar counts. Sometimes it's hard to imagine what it takes to make a movie since we only ever see the final product, but there are A LOT of moving factors behind-the-scenes that are crucial for the success of the film: location fees, gear rentals, set decoration, props, wardrobe, hair & makeup, crafty (snacks/drinks), catering, film festival submission fees, marketing, footage hard drives, and much much more.
$1,500 will help cover all expenses needed to make this film. Considering we are staging and shooting in an apartment for two weekends, this amount will help us execute all desired needs on and off set as well as help us shoot this movie with the best and highest possible production quality. Which is ideal, so we can then deliver a professional, well-done, impactful short film back to you!
