Logline:

A cycle of pain, emotion, and trauma pull together and divide, a colorful band of misfits as they each are confronted with their own mortality in this suspenseful Noir tale of family, heartbreak, revenge, greed, ambition, power and closure.

Where it all Began:

The idea of Blindspot came from a running joke between an old friend and I: “What if you got kidnapped, I got the ransom call and proceeded to tell the kidnappers; I don’t got it.” After that "pitch" me and the friend would riff on the idea until BANG a tsunami of ideas hit me. Initially considered to be a black comedy; a plethora of jokes clouded my mind, as I cranked out my first draft in less than a month.

Fast forward a few months; and we were into the early Pre-Production. While prepping my "black comedy"; a mentor of mine presented me with a challenging question of "Where's the suspense?". Never one to stray from a challenge: I took that question to heart & set out on learning more of my underlying story.  While pulling one of my habitual all-nighters; I happened to catch an Alfred Hitchcock marathon and from there all the underlying story sprouted to the surface. 

As I got to understand each character, their motivations, and began to realize, just as it is in life: no one is truly good or bad, I realized the essence of the story changed and Blindspot was born. Empathy, revenge, and a slew of unhinged emotions; these themes illustrated the parallels between good and bad, right and wrong, and overall showed the inherent humanity within my morally grey characters. Another couple of months passed, and this version of the script was far superb but it still wasn't enough.

The real breakthrough came when I noticed one of my characters didn't really serve a purpose. She was kind of just there; in and out of the scene, meanwhile her husband had a 8 page argument about nothing. Doing what my mentor did for me months earlier, I asked myself: "Who is she?".  And from there EVERYTHING fell into place, things got so powerful that I began writing scenes that would manifest themselves into my real life. I.e.: I wrote a car accident at 11pm, took a power nap & awoke to my sister asking me to take her friend home at 1am. Within 15 minutes of being in the car: we were ran into a barricade by a reckless car thief, and although scarred; thankfully okay. During my recovery, I started seeing the parallels of my words and the life they were creeping into and AT THAT MOMENT: BlindSpot was truly born! 

Initially this was to be a low budget project. I planned to shoot a more guerilla style film with an iPhone XR and a skeleton crew. As the story and characters grew, it became more apparent that we needed the proper tools and equipment to truly bring their essence to life. Every word, look, piece of material, color, and shot in this film is intentional and serves the story, so WHY sell myself short. My grandma & mom always told me to set goals and think big so here I am, living my truth to ensure these characters get to show the world theirs.

Why THIS HAS TO BE TOLD:

We all have traumas, scars, and events that have shaped us positively & unfortunately negatively. So many folks become a victim to their traumatic circumstances, and truly never recover. Others, conquer those in their powerful ways, sometimes healing their souls along the way or leaving a pile of bodies in their trail. BlindSpot tells the story of this entire spectrum; no matter who you are, or what you do, if you've ever made a terribly impactful decision and have been struggled to put it behind you, this story is for you! If the world has stepped on you one too many times and you buckled up and said "I've had enough", this is for you! If you've been hurt by someone you once loved, was nearly the end of you; this is for you!  To quote one of my characters: "Everything that you went through, Every part of you that you wished was kept sacred, Every piece of pain, every piece of death and All your regrets and failures" are all told & represented here.  This story's purpose is to show the real life pain we all have suffered to some degree and make those responsible atone for the hurt.

What WE NEED from YOU:

In order to bring this project into fruition, I am asking for $11,000 in support. With this investment; the funds will be dispersed as follows: Around $3000 for equipment rentals, another $1000 + props, production design, & costumes. Another $2000 is to go toward paying members of our incredible crew, with another $1000 to compensate our cast. Additionally another $2000 will be targeted to ensuring everyone on set is fed, their gas is reimbursed, and ensuring there are no financial hiccups along the way. The last two grand will be for post production cost: coloring, marketing, festival fees, and any other hiccups along the way. We will likely also be using some of our own funds for these cost as well, to ensure it's seen by the world!

Each member of this cast + crew believe in this story. They've each honed their skills to add unique storytelling elements, and the means to bring Blindspot to places where it can be seen by the world and all the beautiful folks who it resonates with.
