"The year was 1985, Daniel McCormack was like any other man, dreaming of sports cars and a brighter future with his girlfriend, Jennifer. One night Daniel stops an assault on several civilians by the notorious Kano Gang who have been overpowering the city of Santa Mira. Unfortunately, Daniel’s bravery is short lived as he is murdered by Johnny, the gang’s leader. A year later, on a thunderous October night, Daniel rises from his grave seeking revenge on the men who took his life, his future and his dreams."
This is NIGHT RUN.

NIGHT RUN was born out of my love of the 80's, from films, commercials, fashion and music. It all came from that amazing decade that gave us Alf and Where's The Beef lady, how can one deny the awesomeness of the 80's? The first outline of the project was written way back in 2013 and quite gradually this project was always left on the back burner, the project kept being put aside and the rise of 80's popularity continued to grow. I knew I wasn't alone in my love for the 80's, something had to be done about it.

Original Storyboard.
Thus about a year ago the project was resurrected (no pun intended, believe me). The initial storyboards and first drafts from 2013 were dusted off and an actual pre-production phase began. Casting, script re-writes and location scouting occurred during the summer of 2016. Within a few weeks, cameras started rolling.
The goal? To make a pitch (concept) trailer in order to seek funds to make a full length feature film.

The intention with NIGHT RUN is to make a full 90 minute movie. A movie that will look and feel as an actual film shot in 1985, from the costume design, the films score and direction, without trying to over stylize the visuals. Imagine a film that you could watch back to back with The Terminator, Miami Vice or even a Friday the 13th flick.
Here, check out some of the trailer stills!

That's what NIGHT RUN is, the greatest 80's film that never was.
We plan on shooting everything practically with little to no green screen work. In the trailer you'll see a CG Lamborghini but that won't be in the final cut of the film, it was done as a CG element due to budgetary constrains for the trailer. We want to shoot a down and dirty film with grit and realism, with shoot outs, fight scenes and every now and then a car chase. Imagine Miami Vice meets Death Wish meets Friday the 13th!
Currently the film has a tentative schedule to commence filming during the spring of 2018, this will pave the way to enter post-production during that same summer, allowing us enough time to premiere the film on you guessed it, October 31st 2018.

And unfortunately all that costs money, like a lot of money. With your help we'll be able to rent better equipment, hire an actual crew, acquire permit locations, props, car rentals, as well as on post production, such as editing and any VFX shots. All the money will go directly towards the making of this film, every penny will be spent on furthering this project to be the best that it can be. Check out the budget breakdown (below) which shows where the $28,000 will go to.

The films soundtrack will be composed by CROCKETT. Over the last few years Crockett has composed dozens of tracks emulating film scores from the 80's with an unique synth style that encapsulates sounds and emotions from action and teen romance films from that era, replicating the sound like no other musician. Check out the Motion Picture soundtrack artwork right here. Also be sure to listen to a 30 second snippet of what CROCKETT has coming!

Our crew was incredibly small, it consisted of Director, Erick Solis and his first AD, Elizabeth Salazar. Due to the almost non-existent crew, Erick also operated the camera, lighting, blocking, editing, VFX work and all the graphic designs for the film. Some say he didn't leave his room for an entire month just to finish all the designs for this campaign.
Our social media powerhouse is Jacob Dressler, a fan of 80's horror movies, he's the guy responsible for posting all updates in all social media channels and the go to guy for any questions regarding the campaign. He's a total life saver, but we'll stop with the nice things about him or else he might get too cocky.

In terms of our cast, we were incredibly lucky to find the best cast imaginable, after a lot of searching and browsing thousands (quite literally) of actors we found our dream team. Seeing them perform and act our their lines was a surreal experience, they added so much depth and energy that blew us away.

What's so different about Night Run and all the other 80's crowdfunding projects?
Night Run will be an authentic throwback film to the 1980's. We want to create a film as if it were actually shot in 1985, that means no over the top Computer Generated animations, almost no green screen work, no over stylized visuals, no fake cars. Imagine a more straightforward film in the vein of Stranger Things, where every aspect is subtle and not overblown, where everything feels real and grounded. We want people to not now that this movie was made in 2018.
How long will it take you guys to film this movie?
Filming will roughly take about a month in a half. One of the many advantages of shooting with a smaller crew is the ability to shoot fast and efficiently. This allows us to focus our energy in scenes that require more strategic planning and caution, such as the fight scenes and car chases.
Where are you planning on filming?
We're planning on filming the movie in Los Angeles and different counties around California. We also plan on shooting in Texas, it all depends heavily in the amount raised. Since permits to shoot in different locations vary from state to state. We want to maximize our budget accordingly to whatever deems fitting to our specific location needs. One of our favorite locations is the city of Los Angeles. L.A. really provides all those locations that reminds us of great 80's action films from Die Hard to The Terminator and the palmy beaches that bring back Miami Vice memories.
How soon will you guys mail out all the perks?
The perks have an expected ship date of October 2018, of course depending on the amount of requests and workload it may change to November. However, any person who selected a perk above the $20 reward (as well as those who selected the $15 perk) will immediately receive a download link to the film on October 31, 2018.
What's the difference between the Soundtrack and Compilation Album?
The soundtrack which will be composed by Crockett is the film's underscore, the music that plays during dramatic or tense moments to build emotion and anticipation. Much like what John Carpenter did during the film Halloween. The Compilation Album will be a compilation of synth tracks from different artists that will be played throughout the movie much like the singles played during TOP GUN!
Will I have to pay for shipping on all the the perks?
Yes, shipping will be added on to the price once you've selected a perk.
Will my name appear in the closing credits if I selected any perk above the $10 one, like a DVD or Digital Download?
Yes! Any perk above the $10 perk will automatically add your name to the closing credits.
