"Occupants" is a film about Annie Curtis, an award-winning documentarian and her husband Neil. Annie and Neil embark on a "30 Days of Clean Living" documentary, setting up cameras all over their house to document their new eating habits. By doing so, half of their cameras capture a parallel version of themselves - a version that isn't what they seem.
Hi, my name is Russ Emanuel and I am working with my producer Howard
Nash to be able to shoot a science fiction-thriller called “Occupants”,
about a young couple who discover a parallel version of themselves while
surfing the Internet. "Star Trek: Voyager" actor Robert Picardo, Briana White, Michael Pugliese, Chalet Lizette Brannan, Aaron Retford, and Ava Justin are presently attached to the project. "Occupants"
was written by Julia Camara, an award winning writer/filmmaker who
wrote the sci-fi feature “Area Q” (starring Isaiah Washington) and the
road movie “Open Road”, starring Andy Garcia and Juliette Lewis.
We have completed a detailed budget
breakdown and concluded we can make this film for as little as
$27,172.61. Our goal for making this film is to secure worldwide
distribution theatrically, on Blu-Ray / DVD, as well as a place in the emerging
digital markets such as Netflix and Redbox.
Howard and I have the experience
necessary to complete this film due to the three distributed films already
under our belts. They include our first feature entitled, “P.J.” starring
“Home Alone” actor John Heard, “Chasing the Green,” starring William Devane
(currently starring in the TV series “24: Live Another Day”), and “The Legends
of Nethiah,” starring veteran “Star Trek Voyager” actor Robert Picardo.
The found footage genre can be made
relatively for little money (in this case with the aforementioned budget of
$27,172.61), and with a significant chance of becoming a popular hit.
The film is shot almost entirely indoors, stars a cast of 2 (from a full cast
of 4), and stars a cheap "consumer" camera which actually drives the
compelling storyline. The film will also be produced under the Screen Actors
Guild's low budget contract.
The "found footage" horror
genre has been especially profitable, with such films as the “Blair Witch
Project”, “Cloverfield”, and “Paranormal Activity” series, to name a few.
Adding a science fiction element with parallel worlds, along with a name actor
from the sci-fi community only increases the chances our film will
succeed.
So we hope you’ll join us in helping
to make “Occupants” a reality, and in return reap the benefits of becoming an
integral part of such an exciting project. You will experience the
step-by-step process of making a film, from the pre-production phase all
the way to its marketing and distribution (and of course, you can join us at
the World Premiere, where we'll introduce our film to the public).
Thank you for your time. We are
looking forward to working with you!
Sincerely,
Howard
& Russ
