Operation Refugee Child will help aid those who have left everything behind and have little or nothing to eat or keep themselves warm. As parents, we work hard to keep our children warm, healthy and safe, and it is our intention to keep helping these families and children who need us the most. The Syrian Refugee crisis really hit home, as many of us have children the same age as sweet little Aylan Kurdi, whose body washed ashore after attempting to reach Europe with his family. As a parent, you want the best for your children, and we make these decisions based first on safety. You wouldn’t put your family in a tiny boat to cross the sea unless you knew it was safer than land. If and when these families survive the boat ride across the Aegean Sea, they face hardships on land with no food, shelter or warm clothes. We want to aid these families with items that can help ease their transition on their journey to asylum.
All it takes is one person to start changing the world, and it can start with you!
All donations will be used directly for the purchase and delivery of relief packages, with a small percentage of the funds used for travel and logistics (approximately 10% or less).

We are a volunteer group of over 70 people who have united together from across the globe with one common goal of aiding Syrian refugees families. It all originated with one California mom's desire to provide relief to refugee families traveling on foot across Europe. Her goal was simple: give those refugees with infants and toddlers a baby carrier to help ease their journey. In September, she started an Indiegogo campaign with an initial goal of raising $2,500 and collecting 100 baby carriers. Then, practically overnight, her campaign went viral. As the campaign grew in numbers and popularity, volunteers began creating a non-profit organization, Carry the Future (CTF), to provide a structure for sustained support for refugee families. We have raised over $42,000 and collected over 2,000 carriers. Now, with a volunteer staff behind her and contributions of both money and carriers flowing in daily, this campaign has turned from one small gesture of goodwill to the kind of campaign that makes it into history books as one of the biggest grassroots programs of its kind.
Over 9,000 refugees are arriving daily in Greece and 30% of them are children (UNHCR). Facing torrential rains and the onset of winter, refugee families urgently need food to eat and clothing and supplies to stay warm, clean and healthy as they continue on their journey across Europe to a better future. However, there is little to no support on the ground for refugees; local governments are underfunded and overwhelmed, and large aid organizations have a surprisingly minimal presence. Refugees are sleeping in the parks without shelter, water, food, bathrooms, medicine or dry clothes.
Operation Refugee Child will provide refugee families with supplies for a healthier and safer journey to their asylum destination through direct volunteer distribution of donations. CTF has a growing network of over 70 volunteers, and has distributed 400 baby carriers in Kos, Greece, as well as 300 more in Lesvos, Greece. The carriers distributed in Lesvos were donated by another organization but, unfortunately, sat in a loading dock because there were no volunteers to distribute them or provide demonstrations for the parents. As soon as we heard of this situation, within a week, we had volunteers on the ground distributing the carriers. Carry the Future not only solicits the donations but ensures they get into the hands of refugees who need them by sending teams of volunteers for distribution. These carriers, and other donated items, are making a meaningful impact in the lives of refugee families.
