Our
Shining Sword sets out to bring back the great British war film!
The film follows Douglas, a solitary and broken Spitfire
ace who survived the Battle of Britain and decides to transfer to Bomber
Command and re-train as a Lancaster Bomber pilot. Determined to take the war to
Nazi Germany, Douglas must take the place of an experienced crew’s cherished
and respected skipper, gain their trust and overcome his past to become the
leader the Lancaster and her crew desperately need.
The
Production, in total, will cost £80,000 to produce. As it stands we have raised just over 50% of that sum and a section of filming was completed in February 2015. In order to film the largest single shooting block this coming August we need to raise £12000. This will be spent on set building and design, travel, food and accommodation for cast and crew as well as fees for filming on location.
So why should you help?
Firstly, just
take a look at some of the stills taken from our February shoot.

I think you will agree that the production value we have achieved is extremely high for a film with such a limited budget.
And these are only the tip of the iceberg!
Need more convincing?
Watch our showreel and get a sneak peak at some scenes from Our Shining Sword.
The showreel also contains clips from 'Fusilier' and 'Fray Bentos', both of which were made on a budget of £3500 each.
Fray Bentos, a film based on the true story of a Tank crew that became stranded in no mans land in 1917, was used as reference material for the Imperial War Museum's WWI Centenary Exhibition.
"We used the film, in particular the parts shot within the 1.1
recreation of the interior of the tank, to gain a better perspective of what
the soldiers involved experienced. For example, where they were
positioned, how much room they had, what they could see - the whole feel and
atmosphere of being in that space together. We also used it to ensure the
detail and proportion of our animation of the interior, particularly specific
fittings such as rivets, were correct.”
Just imagine what we will do with a budget of £80,000!
Even actor and TV presenter Stephen Fry, as well as BBC Radio 2 and One Show presenter Chris Evans have given us
a nod of approval.

We would also like to exclusively share with you a piece of music written by up and coming composer James Griffiths for Our Shining Sword. If this doesn't make the hairs stand up on the back of you neck nothing will.
