In Paper Planes we follow a young man named Miles. He lives with his father in an old house isolated in the woods.
His father has nerve damage and so is bed stricken and relies on his son to care for him full time. One day, Miles receives a letter in the post. It is from the royal arts university, he has been accepted, but his father knows nothing of this.
Suddenly, Miles finds himself with a decision to make, should he stay and look after his father, or should he leave home for university and focus on a career. To help himself come to a decision Miles gets the idea to try and talk to his deceased mother by sending messages via paper planes into the woods from his bedroom window... He never expected to get a reply.

To make this fantastic idea become a reality we're asking you to help us in any way possible.
Paper Planes is a very ambitions short film project. Beginning with the story itself, through the cast to the locations which we are wanting to use.
Location / Accommodation for crew & cast
Because of the beautiful and characteristic setting that we have chosen to set the story in, a secluded old house in the woods, we are searching for the perfect location that we can afford.
We have already seen a dozen of different houses in a variety of places around the UK and as our producer is estimating the biggest chunk of your donations will be used to access the best possible location.
In order to have access to the best location possible we're going to have to have the crew and the cast stay in a close proximity to our filming base which once again brings up the total production cost.
As we've got a large crew - 24 people and 5 actors/actresses we are going to have to be able to provide suitable accommodation and sustenance for everyone and your support will help us achieve that!
Production Design
Our fantastic production designer Eleanor Green has planned to get some very special props, costumes and other various set design items that will make the film feel as realistic and cinematic as possible in order to ensure the best on screen value.
To give you a brief idea of all the exciting things to come - we'll be needing to get a car, timeless costumes and wallpapers and other alike set design elements, all which we will be able to acquire with your help.
Green Filmmaking
We are not only trying to make a great film, but also while doing so we want to make as little environmental impact on our planet as possible. On set as well as in pre-production we are taking steps to become as green as we through use of a variety of things:
- Reusable water bottles/ coffee cups
- Reusable cutlery and crockery
- Recycling any rubbish
- Carpooling to and from set
- Use of local restaurants/pubs to provide catering and save on any waste
Whilst we might not be able to be 100% green with everything we do while filming, we can definitely reduce our impact as much as we can and help spread awareness of green filmmaking. Even though in the ideal world it would be cheaper to be eco-friendly we live where it is still more expensive to do so, therefore your donations will enable us to help protect the environment!

In short - we are a group of like-minded individuals, that have come together from the Northern Film School in Leeds, UK to create this very ambitious project.
We all have great passion for what we do in our respective roles and majority of us are award winners with short films that have been released on the international film festival circuit over the last year.
