SED develops community-scale solar and wind projects, ranging
from large commercial installations that power towns and businesses with
cost-effective renewable energy to smaller residential projects that generate
clean electricity for your home. SED
installs projects throughout the Northeastern United States, with a specific
focus on our local community in The Greater Rochester Area. As part of our ongoing efforts to spread the
benefits of solar and wind in our own backyards, SED is donating 5kW of solar
equipment to a local nonprofit that can use the free electricity to focus their
hard raised funding on their missions rather than their energy bills.

SED selected Providence Housing Development Corporation
(Providence Housing) as the recipient of the first ROC the SUN Solar Giveaway.
Since 1994, Providence Housing has created more than 900 units of affordable
housing in the Rochester area for seniors, individuals with special needs, and
families. Providence Housing's mission is to strengthen families and
communities by creating and providing access to quality affordable housing
enriched by the availability of supportive services. Providence Housing
develops, finances, and manages affordable housing in affiliation with the
Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester, NY.

SED’s goal is to aid non-profit organizations by providing them
with their own renewable energy generators.
These projects supply long term benefits and remove a significant
operating cost so that the nonprofits can focus their funds on their noble,
community supporting missions. Crowdfunding
renewable energy projects for local nonprofits is a tremendous opportunity to
support the local institutions that are working to rebuild and support our
communities.
SED has committed to donating the solar panels, design and
installation labor for this project.
However,
there are remaining funds that need to be raised in order to complete the
project, totaling $3,500. These
additional funds are needed to pay for the electrical balance of system,
racking, permit fees, and an inverter.
The solar project will be installed at Providence Housing's Son
House Apartments located at 539 Joseph Avenue in the City Rochester, NY. Son House provides 21
affordable one-bedroom apartments of permanent supportive housing for homeless
individuals and helps people achieve stability through housing and case
management services.
