Brenda is an infomercial host for The Shape Shifter; a popular weight-loss product that boldly proclaims to “shape shift” your flabby body into Barbie doll perfection.
On the surface, Brenda doesn’t seem to have a problem with the fact that the entire production, herself included, knows the product is a complete fraud. She is always on the run from angry, dissatisfied and over-weight customers wanting their money back. Her only sanctuary is her binging from 7-11 junk food in her car or alone in her apartment late at night.
However, the guilt has finally pervaded her consciousness and Brenda must face herself and decide: Is she just as fraudulent as the product she sells?

Kelly Thompson has had a passion for writing and storytelling since a very young age, and continues to express herself through screenwriting and filmmaking. She has been working in the film and TV industry for 6 years, starting out as a Production Assistant, and working her way up to positions in a wide variety of departments. She has been film production student at Santa Monica College since early 2014, and continues to hone her craft and learn everything she can about movies and the film production process.

Michael Osborne is an actor/writer/director with a background in Theater as well as TV/Film. He is known for his work on the award winning film 'Sombrero' as well as various roles in TV and commercials. Michael is currently in development with his comedic web series 'Roomies' and will be directing his first short film in the fall. Shape Shifter marks his 4th project as a producer and he hopes this will be the best one yet.

Carrie is best known for her lead role in Gus Van Sant’s “Elephant” (winner of the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival). Over the years she has acted in several films and television shows, including a 2014 comedy playing opposite C. Thomas Howell. On the production side, Carrie and her writing partner wrote, produced, and starred in two web series, “Girls of Wisdom” and “The Besties Show,” featured on CBS News (“Getting Paid to Post”). They recently wrapped their first SAG independent feature film, “Quarries,” in which she produced and acted; their next feature is currently in development. Carrie is currently doing a production internship with director Salvador Carrasco (“The Other Conquest”) at Salvastian Pictures assisting in the development of his next feature film, and she is also working at Village Roadshow Pictures.

Salvador Carrasco is a film director, best known as the writer/director of the highly acclaimed and influential feature film The Other Conquest about the Spanish colonization of Mexico. Carrasco has won numerous film and academic awards, and is currently developing new film projects through his production company, Salvastian Pictures. He is a tenured film professor at Santa Monica College, where he is the Head of the Film Production Program

The Santa Monica College Film Program will contribute roughly 60% to the film’s final budget by providing equipment, insurance and production space. In addition, the program brings together a talented crew of over 30 film students who are donating their time and expertise free of charge.

The Santa Monica College Film Program emphasizes on collaboration, equality, and mentorship. SMC has a rich diversity of gender, ethnicities, nationalities, and socio-economic backgrounds. Every Fall and Spring semester a new film project is selected to be filmed throughout the semester.
Over the last two years the program has received considerable praise, and previous productions have won numerous awards and been accepted into numerous prestigious festivals; including Cannes and BAFTA.
