Why Sing Louder?
Music is the most potent tool I know to break down walls, slip through barricades, and connect with each other. And when we authentically connect, we can change the world. Now more than ever we need to be courageous enough to transcend emotional, intellectual, and political barriers, and raise our voices…together.
For the past 6 months I’ve been in the studio tracking a new record to be released this Fall. The songs I've chosen to include on this record give voice to my story, and hopefully resonate with others in a way that inspires them to give voice to their own. When we share our stories, we not only heal ourselves, but empower others to do the same.
I’ve seen the songs on this record move people to raise their voices together, and speak their own truths in a way that makes a difference to them, to others, and to the world. Singing is empowering. Singing together even more so. When we raise our voices in community, they resonate, are amplified, and we are heard. That's why I've chosen songs for this record that feature voices raised together, whether two voices in harmony, a gospel choir, or a community of voices.
I hope people hear this record and understand that they too, can join in, express themselves in community, speak their truth, tell their story, and make a difference. Every voice matters.
Live what you love
Love what you do
Laugh with your friends
Cry with them, too
Sing every day
Sing out loud sing out clear
If you don’t know the words…
Sing Louder!
So, what next?
We've finished tracking the record, We brought in a local gospel choir, players from all sorts of fabulous bands, and a chorus of voices from our community. Now it's time to share the record with communities around the world.
In 1971 the world was asked to sing in perfect harmony; now we're asking you to "Sing Louder" and be heard above the noise.

What else?
The Sing Louder Singers
I've played shows in bars and coffee houses, in living rooms and auditoriums, on festival stages in fields and on farms, and the most empowering part of every show is hearing all of the voices singing back at me. People join in, maybe tentatively at first, but always growing louder and stronger and finally releasing into the bliss that is a chorus of voices raised together.
I've tried to capture that glorious sound coming back at me on the title track of “Sing Louder”. Forty-six souls gathered at MorningStar Studios on July 8th to raise their voices, and share their intentions with the world. Many of them stepped way out of their comfort zones to don headphones and sing into a mic. They held signs and shared dreams, they sang with passion, joy and abandon. The energy was indescribable, and that's why I'm so glad we captured it on tape and on video and we'll be sharing it with the world on this new record!!
