Slackers Brewing Co. is a family-owned brewery opening in Anderson Mill in Austin, Texas — a place where everyone is welcome and craft beer is approachable.

Not only are we creating a quality brewery, but a community space where diverse groups of people can gather and connect.

And as parents, we know the importance of having a place the whole family can enjoy — which is why Slackers will be a family-friendly brewery. You’ll be able to bring your kids while relaxing over a beer, a bite, or cup of local coffee.

Craft will be celebrated in all its forms — musicians, artists and others will be able to share their work within our walls.

My name is Derek, and Slackers Brewing Co. is my dream. My wife Haley and I are working tirelessly to realize this dream — but we need help.

With your help, we can add the important finishing touches to the brewery — and open our doors in only a few months’ time.
 

What We Need

We’ve made so much progress over the last two years, and have the brewery design complete. We’re now working with the city to finalize permits to begin construction in just a few weeks. 

Everything up to this point has been funded by my wife and I — but with the addition of a kitchen to support the zoning laws of the area, we need some additional support. The great news is that this means we’ll offer a menu of food and snacks to eat while you’re enjoying delicious craft beer and coffee.

The additional $25,000 will go towards the plumbing, buildout, equipment and grease trap to add the kitchen to our brewery.

The Impact

I’ve had this dream of opening a brewery and community space since I was in my early 20s — a place to share my creations, where others can share creations of their own. 

By supporting this campaign, you’ll be helping an Austin family make their dream come alive — and enabling us to support our community in return.
 

Risks & Challenges

At this stage of the process, I can tell you without question that there are more risks and challenges ahead. Working through some of them have made me question my sanity — yet we keep finding a way over the hurdles.

I expect there will be more hidden costs in the buildout, and that the city is not done making our journey a bit more interesting. But I feel confident that we’ll make it through. 

With your support, my personal drive, and ample beer to calm my nerves, I know we’ll open the doors to Slackers Brewing Co. in 2021.
