Small Chihuahua, Big Surgery.
Hi everyone, I'm trying to raise money for Pamela, my 5 year old Chihuahua. Pam was born with her back legs bowed and because of this she needs to have surgery for Patella Luxation on BOTH her back knees. This surgery will realign the tendon in her knee and shave down the bone to better hold her knee cap in place... currently both of her knee caps remain popped out of the socket 75% of the time, causing some pain and often times making her limp.
This is not a life threatening matter, but it very much affects her quality of life. If it goes untreated she will eventually develop arthritis in her knees and be in constant pain. Pamela is my best friend, I've had her since she was 9 weeks old and I would do anything to keep her from suffering. I'll make sure she's taken care of no matter what happens with this fundraiser, but $6,000 is a lot of money for anyone and that's why I'm asking for some help. Any donation, Great Dane or Chihuahua sized, will be greatly appreciated:-)
Pammy and I travel full time for work and this surgery requires check ups over a 6-8 week period... so I'm planning on having it done in early January of 2016. My vet has given me a referral to the Arizona Veterinary Specialty Center, www.azvs.com. Here's a breakdown of what that $6,000.00 will cover.
$2,900.00 per knee.. for that amount they include everything listed below.
Initial consultation
Blood work
X-RAYS before and after
Surgical Procedure
Overnight stay in the hospital
Epidural for pain management
10 day check up
6-8 week check up
There is a very small chance that both her knees can be done at once, but that is unknown until her initial consultation at the surgical center. If it's possible to do so the whole surgery will cost roughly $4,200... in this case, if I have managed to raise the entire $6,000 any remaining money will be donated to the Little Lives Animal Rescue in Southern California.
Thank you,
Dakota Granados
