"What is Smokin Brotha’s?
I have had a hunger for culinary ever since I was an adolescent and the majority of it stemmed from being a young boy that admired his father. As a kid growing up my father, my brothers (Kenneth Thorns, Brandon Washington, Danny Gorrer and Ivy Brown), and I had many favorite past times but one of the countless greats was the backyard barbeques that we use to do together. Most people only barbequed on special holidays but anytime my dad desired to get the boys together he would have a backyard barbeque. These childhood and adolescent experiences cultivated a desire within me to become a pit master.
The more I smoked, however, the more I recognized the pleasure I obtained from seeing people truly appreciate the food I had prepared. This feeling turned into the fuel that pushed me to start perfecting my skill; as well as investing into my hobby at this time. Furthermore, four years ago I began barbequing on a more professional level by catering for events. My passion for perfection continued to grow and this passion caused me to begin creating my own: seasoning, links, and sauces.
I moved to Tulsa to attend Oral Roberts University for college and I thought that this passion would have to die because I had to start over. However, the passion did not die and I met a friend named Zachary Monks; now I recognize him as more of a brother then a friend. He continued to push me. He never ceased constantly telling me that I needed to sell my barbeque, and all I could think of were those past time backyard barbeques with my dad and my brothers; thus Smokin Brotha’s was born.
What is the plan?
We have purchased and partially furnished a barbeque bus in order to begin distributing our Smokin goodness in the Texas area. We have high expectations of opening more mobile food stations around the area to create a family of brotha’s throughout Texas."
