THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT IN THIS CAMPAIGN! WE WILL BE RE-LAUNCHING WITHIN THE NEXT 30 TO 60 DAYS AFTER SOME RE-EVALUATION. WE WANT TO BRING SNAPE AND THE MARAUDERS TO LIFE! STAY TUNED ON OUR FACEBOOK ANDTUMBLR PAGE FOR UPDATES.
Welcome, Potterheads!
Millions of fans across the world, like you, have unconditional love for the Harry Potter series. We the filmmakers, are also fans, and we want to make a new fan film that bring some of the most beloved and mysterious characters to life. While every diehard fan of the series has their favorite character, many have expressed an interest in the back-story of the Marauders and their rivalry with Severus Snape.

The Marauders are easily the most popular supporting characters of the books and films. Since we've seen Remus Lupin and Sirius Black as adults, but not as adolescents, and very little of Lily and James Potter, fans love to speculate and look deeper into these mysterious characters. We want to make a fan film that would bring them all to life, and get to know their characters on a deeper level.
Previously, we explored the backstory between young Dumbledore and Grindelwald in another Harry Potter fan film, "The Greater Good" which was released on YouTube in December of 2013.
With "Severus Snape and the Marauders", we want to go beyond a shoestring budget and bring on the best production value possible.

Snape, Lily, and The Marauders have graduated Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At a local pub, James Potter and his friends reminisce about their last seven years, and contemplate their future. Snape heads to the same pub in the hopes of finding Lily and making amends before possibly never seeing her again. When James spots his old rival, thinking about the war they are to join and the part Snape might play, James decides to do something about Snape once and for all.
The story will be from Snape's perspective, but is just as much a Marauders story as it is about Snape, and all characters will be treated objectively and fairly. It is about the reality of the wizarding world at the time and the choices they make after Hogwarts.

"The Greater Good" was shot on a shoestring budget. We had a crew of 2, pulled a lot of favors, and used a lot of guerrilla filmmaking tactics. We simply cannot pull that off this time around. Besides, we want to pay people for their time and talents! Shooting in Hollywood is an expensive venture, and the costs below reflect the minimum that we will need.

CAMERA AND SOUND - We have an amazingly talented Director of Photography, John Hafner, who owns the RED Scarlet, which produces some extraordinary images. He also plans on bringing on a second RED to help speed along production. Below is John's reel and a film by the director, Justin Zagri, also shot on the RED.

We will also need an extensive lighting setup, both for the duel and the bar. Lighting adds a professional quality to the production and we have some special ideas in mind for lighting this film.
Equally important, is finding a passionate sound recordist with the right equipment and experience. We want to afford the BEST sound possible to reduce costs in post-production.
LOCATIONS - THE BAR. The opening of the film takes place in a British pub. Renting an entire establishment such as this one costs a pretty penny and has to be covered by liability insurance. This is a large cost, but we have a great pub in mind called "The Black Boar." It has an amazing look and feel that will fit right into the Harry Potter universe.

THE FOREST - The big duel between Snape and the Marauders will take place in a forest, within the beautiful Los Angeles National Park. The trees form a canopy over the forest floor that resemble an arena, and there are lots of places for wizards to hide and duel strategically.

COSTUMES, PROPS, PRODUCTION DESIGN - While we can be very resourceful with finding costumes, we are also interested in building some costumes from scratch. We are bringing on two very talented costume designers, Michelle D'Antonio (whose credits include the Hunger Games and X-Men: Days of Future Past), andLeetal Platt. We also have makeup wizardLaney Chantal on board who has starred in the SyFy TV series "Face Off!"

MUSIC - The composer for "The Greater Good," Alexander Arntzen, will once again bring his immense talents to this film. He also needs a bit of funding so he can bring new tools and resources to the score. Want to hear the full score for "The Greater Good?" Click below!

VISUAL EFFECTS - The people who brought the original effects for "The Greater Good" will be working on this film, but will need a bigger budget to take the visual effects to the next level. Check out Jake Akuna's visual effects reel here!
And check out Amy Carpenter's reel as well!

While the movies were (mostly) faithful and entertaining, they left out a lot. However, that's where both the filmmakers and you, the fans, come in. We decided to make "The Greater Good" so we could see a pivotal event in Dumbledore's life, and this film will show a huge turning point in Snape and James' lives. We would love to give a little more insight into who Snape really is, why he becomes the man we know in the books, and his relationship to both his ongoing crush Lily, and his enemies the Marauders.

We want you to be a part of this process. We have included perks that include cool stuff like t-shirts and props, but we also want to bring you opportunities to be an insider in what goes on to make this film. Everything from getting an email blast with exclusive photos, to seeing rehearsal footage, to being on the set itself, even being a background actor!
Our goal seems lofty, but here is a bit of math:
If 3900 people donated just 10 dollars, we would hit our goal.
If 1950 donated 20 dollars, we would hit our goal.
If 975 donated 40 dollars, we would hit our goal.
If just 390 donated 100 dollars, we would hit our goal.
Below are some of the perks we are offering.
