One house funded. Four to go.
Summary Do you support renewable energy? Do you enjoy creating positive change in our communities? If so, then you've come to the right campaign!
By
supporting this campaign, you will help Nebraskans for Solar and our
community partner, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha install solar hot water
systems on five Habitat houses. These families, like those seen below, will then have the means
to reduce their monthly energy costs by harnessing power from the sun
for the next 20 to 25 years! The money they save can be spent on food,
healthcare, education, and other needs, benefiting their families and communities for a very long time!

These five houses will
serve to raise awareness about solar technology and how it benefits
people and the environment. As more communities adopt our solar power
program for low-income families, or develop their own variations, a
growing number of communities will benefit. Plus, every year over their
combined lifetimes, these five solar systems will replace grid energy
whose generation would have led to 32,000 pounds of CO2 being emitted
into the atmosphere!
These solar hot water systems are compact but powerful. Each one generates about the same amount of energy per day as a 3-kilowatt solar electric system, or twelve 250-watt solar panels. They can be installed elevated (for greater year-round efficiency) or flush with the roof.
Creating positive change
By
donating to this campaign, you will help create positive change in our communities. Nebraska has tremendous potential for solar energy
production, and with costs continuing to come down, a "solar revolution"
isn't far away. A growing number of communities in other states are
solar powering Habitat for Humanity and other low-income houses,
ensuring that low-income families aren't left out. That's our major
goal, too. By contributing to this campaign, you will help to finance
five solar-powered, low-income houses in our state, benefiting these
families and our communities for many years!
Every
little bit helps, whether you make a donation or help us spread the word
about this campaign! Donations are tax-deductible. All Indiegogo funds raised will be paid directly to Habitat for Humanity of Omaha.
About our perks
We
have carefully chosen eco-friendly and educational perks that support
your passion for renewable energy and caring for the environment. We've included several to help you reduce your carbon footprint. Learn about renewable energy with your child or grandchild by
doing one or more of the projects together from Catch the Wind, Harness the Sun, by award-winning author, Michael J. Caduto.
Watch him or her have fun with the world's smallest race car while
learning about solar energy. Charge your cell phone and other electronics with power from the sun! Join us for dinner in your honor, and enjoy foods from local farms. No
matter which perk you choose, we hope you enjoy our gift to you!
The
greatest perk of all, of course, will be seeing all five Habitat
for Humanity of Omaha houses with solar hot water systems on their
rooftops and knowing that the families who live there and our
communities will benefit from these gifts for many years to come!
Spread the word!
We
need your help to spread the word about our campaign and about solar
energy in our communities. Invite your families,
friends, co-workers, and neighbors to join us! Together we can solar
power these five low-income houses, create models for positive change,
and show that solar is a viable source of energy in every community.
Find us on Facebook, and be sure to add your email to our mailing list
for our updates!
Thank you to all our contributors, for your donations and for your help in getting the word out about this campaign!
