Retro-futur koncept primjene novih tehnologija u zaštiti kuturne baštine.

U Procesu rada na solarnom retro jedrenjaku, pokušali smo da revitalizujemo stari vojnički kuter, medjutim ispostavilo se da je to veoma skupo, nepraktično, i da će rezultat biti... nedovoljno kvalitetan, trup bi bio suviše težak, električni motor bi morao da bude mnogo jači, energetska efikasnost ne bi bila idealna.

Odlučili smo da uzmemo identičan trup- korito, uradjeno u West sistemu, Nov, tvrd, jak, moderan, lak, sa apslolutno zadržanim istim dizajnom, da bi ostvarili unaprijed zadati cilj.
 Imati jedrenjak koji je sačuvao svoju originalnu liniju , geometriju, izgled, ali da pri tom bude maksimalno trajan, funkionalan , lak i brz.

Do sada smo skupili 20 700 dolara. 

Od tog novca kupili smo trup- u west sistemu od Brodogradilišta Enavigo, Virovitica: 11 000 $, u tu cijenu uračunat je i prevoz do Kalafatarske radionice Bokovac u BAru,

We will restore an old navy cutter and create a retro-futuristic sailboat that will promote sustainable solutions. The reconstructed solar cutter will feature an original wooden hull and classic rigging and sails combined with a solar-powered engine. The mission of the boat is to promote clean energy in the Adriatic and it will be open to organizations fighting for the same cause.

"Jedrenje je poezija kretanja"

Jedrenje nije snobovsko zajebavanje preskupim brodovima i razmetanje pred sirotinjom koja se brčka u moru.  Danas možete nabaviti polovnu jedrilicu za cijenu auta starog 10 godina. I odmah jedriti.

Jedrenje je prađede energetske efikasnosti. Sa svojom  jedrilicom nisam za 10 godina potrošio goriva koliko jedan vlasnik  glisera iste dužine sprži za sat vremena.  A pri tom provedem na moru, u plovidbi,  višestruko više vremena od njega , što je valjda i cilj kad imaš plovilo.

Brzina jedrilice mi je izuzetno važna. Kad vidim neke pijane turiste kako se valjaju na čarteru niz vjetar stegnutih jedara, srce mi se stegne baš kao i to jedro u rukama neznalica. Volim kad jedrilica optimalno hvata vjetar, "orca" oštro u vjetar, precizno siječe talase kao što dobar nož siječe mladi sir, dok su jedra natrimovana da se na brzini ne gubi ni milimetar.




Volim restauraciju starih, odbačenih stvari.

Obnovio sam jednu staru gitaru, koju sam našao pored kontejnera za smeće, starog fiću,  kog ovih dana treba da registrujem i s ponosom vozim po gradu. Ugradio sam mu i plin, da bude Eko Fićo. 
Čak sam se palio da restauriram jedan stari BMW motocikl, ali, čim sam osvijestio činjenicu da motocikl nikad nisam vozio, niti me to zanima, brže bolje sam ga poklonio komšiji , pasioniranom motociklisti, uz to vrhunskom autolakireru, koji će imati znanja vremena I živaca da ga dotjera do perfekcije.
Otac mi je bio arheolog, restaurator, potpuno nenamjerno  sam pokupio tu pasiju od njega. 




Volim Kutere

U vojsci, u Splitu, davne 1982 , već kao jedriličar takmičar sam dobio prekomandu da pomažem u obuci mornaričkih oficira u jedrenju I veslanju. Pored modernih jedrilica, tu su bili I takozvani “kuteri”, elegantne, barke 100 godina stare koje su, gonjene veslima i čistom ljudskom snagom dostizale nevjerovatnu brzinu od 6 čvorova! Na jedra,  u "pola krme" dostizao je i više.

Ljubav prema tom brodu se nekako ukorijenila , I ja sam nakon 30 godina došao u posjed jednog, prilično raspalog kutera, čije slike vidite.



Volim planetu Zemlju

Volim ja i čitav Kosmos, ali Zemlja je najgostoljubivija i najprijatnija teritorija za koju znam. Vjerovatno ima nekih boljih, ali do njih je za sad nemoguće doći.
Računam da će, ovako atraktivan starinski jedrenjak, sa najmodernijom, a sasvim pristupačnom  tehnologijom, koja zbog starih navika  još nema masovnu primjenu, sa popularnim kapetanom koga mediji temeljno prate, dati odličan primer i motiv da se pređe na električne motore i solarni pogon.
Možda najvažnija pasija koju imam je borba za čistiju  planetu uvođenjem čiste tehnologije. Tehnologija je već tu, ona  donosi ogromne uštede u gorivu, novcu, eliminaciji zagađenja. Promjena ljudskih navika je nešto na čemu radim već neko vrijeme, kroz moje javno djelovanje. Užasno je gledati te naftne fleke koje svaki  motor sa unutrašnjim sagorijevanjem  pušta u manjoj ili većoj mjeri. Uz to, gorivo moraš da kupiš, a sunce sija džabe!


A šta to ja 'oću?

Ovaj projekt je zapravo zbir svih mojih afiniteta, hobija i pasija na jednom mjestu. Ovaj Solarni jedrenjak je, jednostavno rečeno, prototip mojih snova.

Jedriti sa brodom dizajniranim prije više od 100 godina, a biti brz jednako kao današnje, moderne jedrilice, nekako mi se namentulo kao izazov. Stalno maštam kako će se na regatama kormilari na modernim brodovima pušiti od ljubomore I zavisti kad u nevjerici budu shvatili da ih je upravo prestigao brod dizajniran 100 godina prije njihovog.

Jedriti u potpunoj tišini restauriranim oldtajmerom, koji će biti vrhunac “zelene” tehnologije, ispred nosa "motornjacima" koji   zagađuju more,  troše zalihe kiseonika baš kao njihovi vlasnici zalihe iz novčanika, dok pritom moraju slušati mumlanje, turpijanje i arlaukanje sopstvenog motora usred tihe pučine. 

Ovaj brod će biti ogroman  podstrek za  promjene navika  i ako preobrati  samo jednog  gliseraša  da pređe sa benzina na vjetar, učinili smo prvi, najvažniji korak za očuvanje Jadrana. 

Današnja tehnologija već omogućuje da na ovom kuteru imam električni motor, i baterije koje se pune uz pomoć solarnih kolektora. Velika paluba omogućuje bar pet kvadrata solarnih kolektora, što je više nego dovoljno. Baterije se pune na sunce čitav dan, a onda motor služi samo za uplovljenje i isplovljenje - i to ponekad. Volim da isplovljavam i uplovljavam na jedra. Motor je dakle tu za neke nepredviđene situacije, 1 h autonomije sa brzinom od 5KNT mi je više nego dovoljno.

Jedan od ciljeva je i medijsko lobiranje da lučke kapetanije,  marine i pristaništa prestanu da naplaćuju vez i plovidbene dozvole indexirane po dužnom metru plovila, već po konjskoj snazi motora. Apsurdno je da jedrilica, duga 20 metara, sa motorom od 150 konja, plaća veću cijenu od motorne jahte koja ima 15 metara i motorčinu od  3 000 konjskih snaga. Apsurdno je da eko taksa bude ista za jedrilice koje klize pored obale bez buke i talasa, i motornjake koji oru more, prave ogromne valove, i u zalivima trajno narušavaju obalu, floru i faunu, bukom uznemiravaju čitav živi svijet, uključujući i čovjeka. 


Ovo je plan razvoja broda:

Brod će na kraju ipak biti u mom vlasništvu,  ali pristup na solarni jedrenjak  biće otvoren  za sve učesnike u ovom projektu, ekološka udruženja,  autore eko emisija i eko projekata, sve radoznale moreplovce koji žele da primjene  naš koncept na svojim plovilima. 
Dakle, to će biti ploveće učilo. Sailing edutainment ship.  

Kako bi ovaj brod zaplovio Jadranom, povećao ekološku svijest ljudi, preobraćivao bahate gliseraše  i omogućio mi da uhvatim inspiraciju na valovima - potrebno mi je vaše učešće.

Dakle, optimalno je da u finansiranju ovog projekta učestvuje puno zainteresovanih  ljudi, koji će finansirati po malo, ali pomalo i biti dio projekta, što je i suština crowdfundinga. Naravno, nikako ne želim da prisiljavam ljude koji su u egzistencijalnim problemima da se izlažu bespotrebnim troškovima, svakako da imaju prečih stvari u životu nego što je ovaj projekt.

“Sailing is poetry in motion"

Sailing is not the fun of snobs who fool around and show off on overpriced boats while the poor frolic in the sea. Today, you can buy a second-hand sailing boat for the price of a 10-year old car. And sail immediately. 

Sailing is the great-grandfather of energy efficiency. On a sailing boat, I used less fuel in 10 years than a speed-boat of the same length burns in an hour. And, at the same time, I spent far more time actually out at sea, which I imagine is the point when you have a boat.

The sailboat’s speed is very important to me. When I see drunken tourists lolling downwind on a chartered boat with their sails all tied up, I get the same knots in my stomach as those binding a sail in the hands of ignoramuses. I love it when a sailing boat catches the wind, strongly beating up, cutting the waves with the precision of a good knife cutting through cheese, with the sails trimmed with no slack.

I like the restoration of old, rejected things

I restored an old guitar that I found next to a garbage container, an old Fiat (the famous “Fićo”) which I am about to register and proudly drive around town. I have installed a natural gas tank so it will be an “Eco Fićo”. I even got excited about restoring an old BMW motorbike, but when I reminded myself that I never rode a motorcycle and am not interested in starting now, I gave it to my neighbour, a passionate motorcyclist and a top car painter, so he can restore it to perfection.

My father was an archaeologist and a restorer, and I have caught his passion, completely unintentionally.

I like Cutters

During my military service in Split back in 1982, as a competitive sailor I had been reassigned to assist in the sailing and rowing training of marine officers. Along with modern sailboats there were these so-called ‘cutters’, elegant 100-year old boats which, propelled only by oars and pure human strength reached the incredible speed of 6 knots! With the sails at broad reach it became even faster.

The love of that boat took hold somehow and, 30 years later, I found the old wreck you see in the photos.

I like planet Earth

I like the whole Universe but Earth is the most hospitable and pleasant territory I know of. There might be better ones out there, but they are impossible to reach for the moment.

I believe that an attractive antique sailboat with state-of-the-art affordable technology (which due to old habits has not yet been universally used) and a popular captain who receives a lot of media attention, can and will provide an excellent example and motive to switch to electrical engines and solar power.

Perhaps my most important passion is the battle for a cleaner planet through cleaner technology. 

The technology is already here and brings great savings in fuel, money and the elimination of pollution. For some time already, I have used my public work to bring about a change in people’s habits.  It is terrible to see the oil slicks left by all interior combustion engines. Besides, you have to buy fuel while the sun shines for free!

And what do I want?

This project is actually the collection of all my tendencies, hobbies and passions in one place. Simply put, this solar sailboat is the prototype of my dreams.

Somehow, it became a challenge to sail on a boat designed over 100 years ago and to be as fast as today’s sailboats. I keep dreaming of regattas in which helmsmen on modern boats go green with jealousy and envy when they realize in disbelief that they had just been overtaken by a boat designed a hundred years before theirs. 

And then I want them to go green for a different reason.

Sailing in complete silence with a restored old-timer which will be the pinnacle of ‘green’ technology, in front of the noses of the motor boats which are polluting the sea depleting the oxygen reserves just like their owners deplete their financial reserves, all the while listening to the humming, droning or screaming of their own motors disturbing the quiet open seas. This boat will be an incredible incentive to change habits and, if it convinces only speed-boat owner to switch from gas to wind, we will have taken the first, most important step in saving the Adriatic.

Modern technology makes it possible for me to have an electrical motor and batteries which can recharge through solar collectors. The big deck allows for at least 5 m2 of solar collectors which is more than enough. The batteries recharge all day and the motor is only used for the occasional sailing in and out of ports. I like to sail in and out on wind power. The engine is there also for unforeseen situations. An hour of self-sufficiency with a speed of 5 knots is more than enough.

One of my goals is to lobby through the media for port authorities, harbours and marinas to stop charging for mooring on the basis of the length of a vessel but on the horsepower of its engine. It is absurd that a 20m sailboat with a 150hp engine pays more than a 15m motor yacht with a huge 3,000hp engine. It is absurd that the environmental tax for sailboats that glide along the coast without noise and waves is the same as that for motor boats which plow the sea, make huge waves and permanently destroy the coast and its flora and fauna while disturbing all living things, humans included, with their noise.

  • May 2017 Sailboat launch 
  • August 2017 Installation of solar panels 
  • September 2017 Sailing the Adriatic 

Although I will be the sailboat’s owner, access to it will be open to those participating in the project, to environmental associations, to authors of media broadcasts dedicated to environmental issues and other eco-projects as well as to curious seafarers who would like to apply the concept to their vessels. 

Thus, this will be a sailing educational tool – “an edutainment sailboat”.

In order to achieve this – to make it possible for this sailboat to sail the Adriatic and increase people’s environmental awareness, convert arrogant speedboaters and allow me to catch the inspiration of the waves – I need your help.

Ideally, and in line with the concept of crowdfunding, this project should be financed by many people who would each make a small contribution and also participate in the project. Needless to say, I have no intention of forcing people with financial problems to expose themselves to unnecessary costs. There are certainly more important things in life than this project. 

What else can I say, other than to thank you for taking part in the realization of a dream which I believe to be as beautiful as it is useful and beneficial for society and the environment.
