Stand Up for Children!
Help us prevent child sexual exploitation and abductions in Texas.
1) GIVE 25
There are 7 million children in Texas -- help us protect more of them! We need your financial support to provide children with the knowledge and skills to stay safer on- and off line.
2) TAKE 25
Take 25 minutes to talk to children in your family about child safety. Take the Take 25 pledge and get age-appropriate tips and talking points at http://www.take25.org.
3) TELL 25
Tell 25 of your friends via Facebook or email to TAKE 25 and GIVE 25 by sending them the link to this website!
Prevention works.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children works with law enforcement to help rescue children from abduction and sexual exploitation. We provide prevention education to children and their families, schools and communities through NetSmartz®, our online interactive program that teaches children of all ages how to be safer on- and offline.
The value of child safety training cannot be overstated. Children listen, process and remember safety tips.
"Miss, can I tell you something?"
Maria (not her real name), a 7th grader in South Texas, had been communicating with someone she thought was a friend and was asked by this person to send a nude photo of herself. Fortunately, Maria had attended one of our NetSmartz® presentations, where she learned how far a single image could spread on the Internet. Because of what she learned, she chose not to send the nude photo of herself. She instead confided in her school counselor, who discovered that a high school student had been sending Maria the requests.
