What This Is & What They Say:
Super Wolf is a play about writing a play. It follows the surreal odyssey of Nia Itasca, who finds herself on stage with a cast of characters she’s written and apparently forgotten. Finding her way to Act V is a perilous odyssey. Theatre Universe of Cardiff calls it “A disaster play…with only one way out. And that way is left.” The Grand Duchess of Ulmar said “I found myself so terrified … I had to close my eyes. Both of them…but then I opened one…and it was better…but then…I opened the other … and I forgot where the sentence started.”
What We Need & What You Get
Our goal is to raise $15,000. This will bring our musical to the stage - giving our music director a score to work with for a stage reading to start - and a run of shows after.
Let’s be real: we have already begun developing this play, the music, with a team that continues to grow. Music demos, arrangements, orchestrations, piano-vocal scores have been made and paid for so far out-of-pocket. The cost thus far:
Full Orchestration of “Song of the Needler” = $600
Piano-Vocal score for “Lake of Names” and “Dark Night of Soul” = $140
Demo for “Act V Song” $60
= $800 total out of pocket, which is the limit. In order to continue developing the music, we need funds. A budget to pay our music-makers, directors, and actors.
The Joy of Process
From the playwright: My eldest daughter (9) reads and workshops scenes from the play as I write them. My youngest (5) sings every song I compose nonstop. I’ve used their interactions as we go in the script itself - it has become a dream process and they support me and we support each other in the best possible collaboration ever. The joy is unending. I started out wanting to finish this play for one reason, but now, I only want to see it to the stage, fully realized, to show my kids when you act on your dreams, when you follow them through, those dreams become real. It’s the most exciting project and process I have ever been a part of. I want to bring it to the theater in a whirlwind of enthusiasm and love for creating as a team.

Brief Bio
- Our playwright, Matthew Vitticore, wrote the book and music for Balladeers Play to the Moon which received a staged reading at Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater. The play was directed by Broadway veteran Christopher Gurr (currently in Parade) and featured Nili Bassman (Chicago), Geoff Packard (Matilda), David Lanson, Clemmie Evans, Louis Lavoie, and Amy Scanlon.
Be a Part of Something
My friend, Chris, said this at a recent Girl Scouts event where both of our kids partake in all kinds of activities. As we were discussing Super Wolf, Chris suggested we start a campaign because “people want to be a part of something.”
To Chris, THANK YOU.
To my wife and children, THANK YOU! To Louis, Ko, Mike, Ross, Sodam, and Lu, THANK YOU! To our SCF, Yuko Kudo, THANK YOU! To our first readers, Sima, Pat, Yuko, David, Danny, Clemmie, Jonelle, Ahmed, Alex, Dre, Katey, and Zoe, THANK YOU! To Keith Swank, the inspiration behind the character of the Dramaturg in our play, THANK YOU for the quintessential and taken advice way back in 11th grade Writer's Workshop - "sometimes the topic is about the process itself" and to "keep writing." THANK YOU to Pam and R.J. Rapoza - for bringing me back to theater and starting an odyssey of adventure forever. To each of you who donate to the team of Super Wolf, THANK YOU!!!
