The National Ballet Institute for the Arts (NBIA) makes
quality arts education accessible to all.
We provide high quality professional performances and classes for all
ages and levels at affordable prices. NBIA
and the National Ballet Company serve the greater DC, MD, VA area.
Now in its 66th year, NBIA is at a critical point in its reorganization.
In the past year, it reopened in the Annapolis community and has
expanded to include an art gallery exhibiting emerging visual artists.
NBIA draws students from across the United States, including Montgomery,
Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties in
Maryland; Virginia (as far as the Shenandoah Valley); the District of Columbia,
California, New Jersey, and Texas. Students attend classes during the regular
school year, as well as intensives in the summer.
The National Ballet Company provides quality performances for the general
public, as we as, schools from DC, Maryland, and Virginia. NBC provides arts
programming at affordable prices in venues accessible to all. Company members
and students also donate their time to perform free of charge at select
community events to ensure that audiences that wouldn't have any other
exposure, experience live theater.
Please share your support of the
arts with friends, other patrons and art supporters and encourage them to
support NBIA and the arts.

More About Us
Founded in 1948 by founder/director Helen Moore, the National Ballet is
Maryland's oldest professional ballet company. Known for our
"...high artistic standards and strong technique" Capital News, we
provide artistic excellence to the public at affordable prices.
Performing a wide range of ballets from the full length classics to
contemporary works, there is always something that appeals to the individual
audience member.
In additional to high quality professional performances, NBIA is dedicated
to the professional training of students, teachers and other professionals in
ballet, other forms of dance, art, and music.
Under the direction of Pamela Moore, Co- Chairman of the Board of
Examiner for the Cecchetti Council of America, Diploma Fellow with the CCA
(DFCCA) and Cecchetti USA (DFCUSA), NBIA offers a thorough education in all
aspects of ballet technique taught by a staff of trained and certified
professionals who share the vision of fostering a love of the arts in every
student.
Children may begin as young as age 3 in a pre-ballet program carefully
designed to nurture a love for dance while developing coordination and
musicality. Older children can pursue the study of the Cecchetti Method
leading to the professional levels, the Final Diploma and Teacher’s
Certification.
Related dance forms, art, music and theater are also included in the
curriculum to provide the skills required of today’s dancers and teachers, and
to encourage students to explore other art forms.
