Hello everybody, I'm part of the dedicated team at CRWild, a Costa Rican company committed to wildlife conservation (www.crwild.com).

Since 2021, we've been focusing on the black-headed bushmaster (Lachesis melanocephala) , one of the most spectacular serpents in the world and probably the most critically endangered viper native to the country. Our efforts have provided valuable insights into the snake's ecology, but recent technical challenges threaten to halt our progress. By supporting our crowdfunding campaign, you're not just helping us overcome these challenges; you're becoming a part of a vital conservation effort that can save this magnificent species from extinction.

We already published the last insights on the distribution of this elusive species, and proposed to the IUCN to become considered as Critically Endangered https://www.crwild.com/_files/ugd/ea5bc6_ddc4152d442442128b299ae0044ff58d.pdf?index=true

We urgently need $8,613 USD to renew our equipment, new radio receiver, a more reliable model than we had, necessary for tracking our current subjects, with its own waterproof case; antenna, headphone  and cable. Additionally, we require to acquire three new radio transmitters; snake hooks, baggers, tubes, waterproof dry bags, two camera traps, 6 dataloggers and a microchip lector.

These funds will ensure the continued monitoring and conservation of the black-headed bushmaster for the next three years.

In return for your support, contributors will receive updates and exclusive insights into our fieldwork. If you visit us, you will go with one of the researchers to the habitat of the bushmaster in search of it.

For significant donations, we offer the opportunity to be named as a sponsor in our upcoming research publications.

If we don't reach our full goal, the funds will still be used to maintain our existing equipment and manage our current tracking initiatives as effectively as possible.

Your support will not only help us to manage the technical issues we've encountered due to the harsh environmental conditions of the Osa Peninsula (95% humidity during the wet season, exactly when the bushmasters are more active) but also continue our groundbreaking research on one of the most endangered and impressive vipers. Your contributions are crucial for the ongoing success of our established conservation program (https://www.crwild.com/lachesis-melanocephala-project), allowing us to expand our knowledge and protective efforts for the black-headed bushmaster.

Fieldwork in tropical environments is fraught with challenges, from equipment failure due to high humidity to the difficulty of tracking elusive wildlife. Our experienced team is well trained to manage these risks, backed by years of field experience and a deep commitment to conservation.

Even if you can't contribute financially, you can still play a crucial role! Please help us spread the word about our campaign. Share our project on social media, use Indiegogo's share tools, and talk about our efforts with friends and family who are passionate about wildlife conservation.

Thank you for considering a contribution to our project. Together, we can make a significant impact on the conservation of the black-headed bushmaster.
