The Story
The Astronaut follows Gus, a tiny astronaut who attempts to escape the adult world in a homemade rocket ship. His night alone in the city leads him to the realisation that the world may be scary but there are people in it that make it worth living for.

Director - Abbie Loosemore

Abbie is a graduate of the BFI Film Academy Craft Skills delivered by the NFTS. On the Academy she was the writer on the film 'Dust' and later directed the prequel 'All The Dead Deer' which is to be screened at the Cambridge Picturehouse later this year.
Director of Photography + Producer - Mahalia John

Having graduated from the NFTS & BFI Film Academy Residential, Mahalia is currently pursuing a career in Cinematography. On the NFTS residential, Mahalia was a Cinematographer on the film 'CANNED' which, after premiering at the BFI IMAX, was an official selection at both the British Urban Film Festival and Portobello Film Festival.
Writer - Robyn Goldsmith

Robyn is an alumni of the BFI Residential Screenwriting Academy and first penned the Astronaut when exploring the idea of escape. "I liked the idea of someone wanting to take off and leave earth in search of love".
Production Designer - Joshua Brooks

Joshua has worked on many professional and student productions over the last 2 years. Recently being accepted onto the BFI’s Craft Skills residential course hosted by the NFTS, as well as being offered a place to study Film Production at Arts University Bournemouth, Joshua’s experience and knowledge of working in design will ensure our 360 degree set dress will be as fully formed and incredible as possible.
Cinematography
In terms of Cinematography we took inspiration from the likes of Autumn Durald, David Lanzenberg and Sean Bobbitt in films such as Palo Alto, Paper Towns, The Place Beyond the Pines and Her.
