Why we are going to Bristol, TN
The Lucky 5 is a hot swing jazz band inspired by the jazz manouche sound of Django Reinhardt. We've been playing music together for 10 years. We have the opportunity to record a reel to reel album with Bigtone Records in Bristol, TN, and to do some gigs along the way. We have not recorded an album for a while, and in the past 2 years we have some exciting new additions to our band, and have been working on fresh traditional and original compositions. Bigtone is known for their live true analog reel to reel recording process. Our music is particularly perfect for this type of recording.
Making the trip will be Kip Beacco (guitar), Matt Downing (upright bass), Jonathan Talbott (fiddle), Carolyn Dufraine (trombone), Will Carroll (drums) and Emily Herder (clarinet).

The Impact
Your contribution will make it possible for us to take our band to the next level. Recording is expensive, and while we play as much music as we can, we all have day jobs. We love live music, and think that is the best way to experience what we do, but the true analog recording we will do at Bigtone Records is the next best thing. Bands need to record. For spotify, for festival applications, for new venues, and for our friends. We are so excited about our work in the past year we want to be able to preserve and share it with you.
This is totally doable, and we are doing it.
Risks & Challenges
We are doing this, the studio is booked, and we will get to Tennessee one way or the other. Your support will make this venture manageable for us (this is not a luxurious budget). It will allow us to press the recording to vinyl and CD, cover the costs of printing.
